What's the funniest diet myth you've heard ?

I start : "banana are a very good source of protein"

1. carbs are bad
2. eating at night will make you fat
3. i can eat as many Snackwells as i want because they are fat free
4. fat is bad

damn bro.......nailed it............also, low gi is optimal postworkout........and the whole Atkins thing is a joke..........teach people to learn, not how to lose 30lbs in a month and then gain it all back + some.......

Back in the 90s "you can eat as much fat free ice cream as you want because it's fat free"

Bread and Butter Diet
The basic gimmick of this diet is that you get to eat a slice of bread with butter at every meal.

Saturated fat and white bread!!! that's what we Really need in our diets lol

I think the biggest diet myth is the whole "fat-free" thing, how many millions of people buy this stuff thinking that because it says "fat-free" then it won't make them fat, haha!

wait few more months and they will come up with a new "popular diet"
The sugar alcohol diet

any of those "cookie cutter" diets that says: "Just get this 400 cals/day thing and you will loose 200 pounds by December..."

Other than that, the general concept of "local Fat burning"... Do 500 abs-crunches per day for a six-pack... stepper to get a better ass... etc...

Again, the fat-free thing and the cabbage one are BBBAAAAAAADDDD in my book...

Also, the fat people that drink "Energy drinks" (read sugary things) while doing cardio... DAMN!!!! How much more stupid can you get...

The 24 Hr. Fitness 24/5 program. That shit annoyed the hell out of me when I was a sales manager there. Their premise is that you can eat whatever you want as long as you stay w/in your caloric means...for some reason all the trainers came to me for their own diets, but then pushed these stupid high carb diets on their fat clients...

Actually......you can eat what you want and stay within you caloric means and lose weight.......

I don't know if its a myth, but my cousin told me "dude...those protien powders make you fat" when I was having a quick shake in the hotel room we were staying in for a family event.

certain ones can if you drink them enough.

intake in vs. intake out... Thats the bottom line. Blaming it on one macronutrient is like saying Black Jack, not Poker, is the reason a compulsive gambler lost all his money.

I made a shake consisting of one scoop of whey and water when he made the comment. Sure, that would make me fat if I had 40 of those a day, but then again it would be a hell of a lot better than having 40 scoops of ice cream a day.

Damn you, I have nothing else to say, those were all the myths I was thinking of.

"Weight" being the key word. As BB's we are concerned with fat loss only. I can lose "weight" easily, pure fat loss takes a little more homework.

Almost everyone is lactose intolerant to a point. Meaning that the lactose in the milk will make you bloated and retain water. In the short run making you look fatter. Also, lactose is only slightly more complex than table sugar (sucrose) making it more likely to convert to fat b/c of its quick absorption rate. Milk is great for bulking b/c of the high quality protein, but I always cut it out on a diet. And as you get closer to a target date you can cut out the whey too which can make you hold water.

My favorite myth: Once you quit dieting ALL that muscle turns into fat.
