Function of AAS During a Cutting Cycle

So I'm putting everything together for my second cycle (12 weeks Var and Test), and I'm looking at following more of a cutting diet and workout routine. This made me think of the functioFunction of AAS during a cutting cycle.

In order to cut fat you have to be in a caloric deficit and in order to build muscle you need a surplus.

So if you lower your carbs and overall calories to cut, what exactly are the AAS doing in your system with the muscle? Is it to preserve? Do they allow the ability to build even being in a caloric deficit?

Wouldnt you get optimal results using them to bulk?

As I said, this is only my second cycle and I've never done a cutting cycle so just curious.

When people use steroids for cutting, they are using them primarily to help speed up the fat loss process and maintain muscle mass. Another benefit of steroids are their ability to add muscle even in a caloric defecit, though results will be much much less than if ran in a surplus

The point is to keep your self in an anabolic state while being able to burn fat. When dieting down as a natural athlete the body is in a catabolic state much more often. However when using anabolics you are in an anabolic state more often.

This is not the case at all, things arent as simple as cals in and cals out.

The body burns glucose or fat for energy preferably but can burn protein as well. When you are working out and creating a caloric deficit if you get ample protein to keep mass and subject your muscle to continued loads to cause hypertrophy then the body will try and route nutrients best it can to make sure the body has what it needs to retain mass and will release fat from adipose tissue to fuel activity.

Its a delicate balance and if you go into too much of a deficit you can lose mass because survival trumps mass. One reason people fail to lose wight is because they cut too many cals. Another is they are exposed to an abundance of toxins in conjunction with too few antioxidants and the bodies ability to remove toxins is taxed so fat is created to isolate toxins. Hormonal imbalances as well as an under-functioning thyroid all contribute to not being able to easily lose weight as well.

I have primary used steroids to cut and for contest prep. They allow you to maintain your size while in a caloric deficit. They may even allow you to gain a few pounds or 10 of muscle while dieting. That is why people use them to cut.

I appreciate all the responses. That is what i assumed they did, but I've never experienced it first hand. Makes a lot of sense though.

Great question with equally good responses, I too am doing my first cutting cycle soon and believe you just need to vary your cals until you find that sweet spot, and cardio first thing in the morning to primarily eat BF.
