But i got stuck with this crap for the next week or so. Medical Malpractice. Even after I said I voted for Prop 12 (which capped non-economic damages that can be awarded).

I got a letter last week for jury duty. the day it came I called them and said I didn't have a license or a car hahahahah the chick took me off the list right then.

It's too late to get out of it. I actually got selected. We don't have any alternates. So I'm screwed. But, I do get $10 a day. That's like $180,235,938 Canadian I think.

10$ a day ? Where the hell do you live ? Rwanda ? It's around 75$ a day here. Witnesses get 45$. Juries in civil cases are useless.

The foundation of our judicial system provides for them, so we have em. The reason we don't get paid shit is because it isn't a job, and our comparatively low tax rates don't allow for more. And witnesses, if paid, are paid by the counsels, and can make LOTS of money.

It isnt a job but your losing money while wasting time there. Also low tax rate ? Lol.... I guess California and many other US States have just left the Union

I did the same thing, But I was`nt BS`ing them. They said I had to come anyway. So I took a day off work which I don`t get paid for and took a taxi there. As soon as I handed the lady my paper she said "You can go home" .lol WTF???

I called the Taxi company back and the guy was not out of the vicinity yet. He came back and picked me up.

Lost a days pay and $40+ for a taxi. damn.

I always wanted to get jury duty. Just for a one time experience, but they never contact me for it. I dont know why?

Honestly, if you duck jury duty then you really have no basis to complain about the legal system. The fact everyone tries to avoid it means the jury pool is full of old people and those too stupid to avoid it, not the best demographic. I'm sure you wouldn't want a jury of senile elderly people nodding off during testimony while he other half daydream because they don't even understand the concept of DNA.

Would love to be selected for the Sniper trials going in Virginia....couple times got called for jury duty and both times they cancelled and didn't need me to go to the courthouse.

Have a friend that was called for duty in LA for a Bloods/Crips driveby shooting...she's a school teacher and said she was traumatized from it.... Crips OG in his 40's saw another Crips OG friend get gunned down by some younger Bloods.....2 wks later find the 2 guys that did it and did a drive by on them, got out and one to the head to each of them.

She saw all the autopsy photos of them, tatts and all...OG defense was he was in bed with his girl that nite and someone took his car. Guilty and got 25-life.
