Fruit while cutting?

I'm pretty much addicted to fruit, but I limit its consumption when cutting to post-workout only. I've heard even low-GI fruit is not good for cutting because fructose is absorbed more readily by the liver than the muscles. Nonetheless, I can't resist it post-workout. I would keep it to a minimum during the rest of the day.

Most fruits are okay any way you cut it. Anything with a low GI won't help post-workout though. I just wouldn't consume more than about 5 servings a day and stay away from juice, except when using it for creatine.

Fruit and cutting is an oxymoron...........unless we arent talking about a show.....if you are just trying to lose weight, then everything in moderation........

i avoid all fruits when cutting, see my previous thread about diet fruit juice if you need to satisfy a craving. :D

If the rest of your diet is clean a piece of fruit a day (or 2) won't kill you

fruits' my only healthy vice. satisfies my sweet tooth, and there are many of 'em!

way better than juice, and fibre baby :qt:

Fruits are great for cutting, as long as we are not taking about eating huge amounts. For me, I know 2 apples (160 calories) with some chicken fills me up a lot more then say 160 calories or brown rice. Don't get too scared of the fruits, unless we are taking about straight juice, fruits don’t digest as fast as you would think. Just as with all carbs, dont eat them alone, and you'll be just fine.

Weather bulking or cutting, fruit is very important. Having your liver empty slows your metabolism drastically even if you are eating lots of complex carbs.

Interesting...

Can you elaborate a bit more ?

Sorry to take so long. The more full your liver is with carbs the faster your metabolism will be due to optimized thyroid function. When your body has no easy carbs at hand, it will try to spare carbs by breaking down protien in your muscles. But when you have extra carbs such as those stored in the liver, the body is more incline to use other sources. I like to use fruit to be able to power my workouts while still burning fat. When you eat something like an apple, the insulin spike is minimal, allowing your body to keep utilizing fat as fuel, but when your bloodsugar drops, your body will release glaucogen which stimulates the liver to release stored carbs such as fructose, and at the same time it stimulates fat cells to release fat. I leave the complex carbs for when my muscles needs them, such as after a workout.

fruits = sucrose = liver glycogen = not good if wanting to burn fat all day.
