From Shredded to BULKED!

My questions for you experienced bros.........

I'm coming off an intense routine/training for a triatholon for MD, etc. It's been over a year and I've dwindled from a solid 230 to about 180 and ripped (prob. 6%). I've trained with cardio in the am and weights in the pm for at least 6 days a week to get ready for this comp, so needless to say, my strength has plummeted. My cals, although pretty high, obviously arent enough right now as the scale hasnt moved in quite some time. My strength sucks, mainly because my joint (from being skinny) cant handle the heavy weight like I used to. I mean I've prob. gone from a 375 pound bench at 230 to a 250lb bench now. Here's my question. My new focus is 100% bodybuilding and I have my gear lined up. Do I take a break, crank the cals, lift all heavy (as I can) for awhile and then jump in to my stack, or can I just start it up now without wasting half of it getting to just my normal size? Will the addition of AAS help my strength right off the bat, or has my body been accustomed to such light weights that it won't happen? Mucho K and much thanks for just reading and feeling my pain!
:mix:

I would DEFFIANTLY up the cals and build up naturally BEFORE you start your cycle. You will be surprised how fast you'll get back to wear you were. As you get closer to where you were before, it will obviously get harder and harder. When you finally plateue is when I would begin the sauce.

your call bro when arnold dropped all that weight for that old movie "stay hungry" he gained like 45lbs back in six weeks after the shoot was over and noone can tell me he wasn't doing his d-bol primo stack. If you have extensive experience with AAS and you want to get back to a certain place you've been you can either workout till you plateau or you can kickstart your comback with a cycle. Alot of guys drop weight for certain reasons and then they cycle to come back but the more prudent route would be to do it naturally with diet and hard training first and then use AAS when you've hit the wall.. i think it depends on your experience and what you know about your body.

I dont have extensive usage...,maybe 2 garbage cycles under my belt........I feel like I'm eating a ton too....so, what would you do, increase cals by 500 a day until the scale starts to move? I'd much rather increase cals than drop cardio....

I agree with maxing out naturally first then jump on the gear. But if you are pressed for time and have to get bulked in a hurry then gear will help, providing you have cycles before.

Drop the Cardio bro i know it is hard when youve been into the mentality of cutting because I just droped it myself and it was hard because I was acostumed to doing it everyday first thing in the morning for 1 hour so to drop it was hard but the scale didnt start to go up till i droped it.If your metabolism is in high gear the weight training will be more than enough to keep lean while putting on the weight but the cardio will work against you not with you trust me.Also I would wait untill you recover most of your weight naturally and get back to your normal weight before you touch anything. :coffee:

If you HAVE to do some cardio just walk on the treadmill between a 7% and 10% incline. It will get you going and burn fat but not muscle!

All ways try to grow clean, jump on the cycle after you find that you can not grow anymore. This way the gains will stay.

Im not droppin the friggn cardio.........it's so minimal now, it's almost like a cup of coffee....30 minutes, light incline walk is not killing my gains. My caloric intake is......if I have to up the cals by 1,000 I will, all before I drop the cardio.

Anyone here do cardio when bulking especially when you say the scale just is not moving...
Rest as much as you can, sit whenever you get the chance to
Eat as much as you can, eat whenever you get the chance to
Train natty for at least 6 mo. IMO, there is way too much ground you can make up for by lifting, eating, and resting like a bodybuilder who is getting back into the game and bulking

I have nothing against cardio...I love it. But it makes it very hard to bulk. And not just because of calories burned...it also hurts your ability to recover and grow from weight training. If you really want to bulk, just rest if you arent lifting or eating.

Your thyroid output is probably high from all the conditioning; and if it is, you will recover quickly from your workouts.

Cardio has it's place in bodybuilding. Your cardio is pretty sensible, like "a cup of coffee".

You could instead do core work like pilates or Yoga and alternate that with AM band work/active stretching.

A good approach for your weight training now would be to slightly increase the weight on your lifts and slightly decrease the volume. Keep doing and you'll eventually get into an all-out strength phase.

Balance it as you see fit; this is good general advice that will work.

Ok..f-it.....no more cardio. Done.

Seems like it's everyones consensus, but I'll bet 100-1 my appetite will suffer.

No more cardio and I start June 1st...done/

LOL.....when I get to be a fat fuck, I'm flying you to Ohio and kicking your ass....lol.....

I'm constantly hungry now because I do am cardio. I just can't fathom eating a big meal right before bed and then again when I wake up.......my mind is wayyy to overpowering.

I know exactly what you mean bro I just had to battle with that myself after coming off an awesome cutter that put me in the best shape of my life.Your mind is your worse enmy because it seems after cutting and being so damn disciplined that you are becoming a lazy fuck by doing no cardio and eating so much but believe me its the only way to grow.Intense short workouts with heavy weights,no cardio, eat a LOT try to keep it clean though I said eat a lot not eat a lot of macdonalds and BK like some folk do.I still keep fat intake minimal while bulking, the only fats I eat are efa's in my shakes and from grilled salmon and such. Also plenty of rest is critical. You basically have to do the oposite in every way as when you were cutting and I always find that the hardest getting in the bulking mindset, and trust me it is posible to gain clean muscle with minimal BF especially if you have a pretty fast metabolism. ;)

Im still waiting for that mucho K btw. ;)

Man, I wish I had this problem! For me to do cardio at anytime is a chore to beat all. I would rather slide down a giant razorblade into a pool of rubbing alcohol than do cardio. LOL But I do, and the eliptical is the only thing that saves me. I hate, I mean HATE a treadmill.

Jkurz, don't take offense to this - just tryin to help a bro out, but for the past year and a half I've seen you post almost the same exact thing "I've lost a lot of weight, I want to bulk, etc, etc." I think deep down you know what you need to do, it's been recommended to you so many times by bros on this board - do it. Something's holding you back and you need to find out what it is. Conquer that shit and put on some friggin weight. You obviously have the discipline and the desire, now you need to implement what you already know. Go for it.

As far as when to start your cycle - I would recommend trying to gain weight without it, and then start. You'll benefit so much more from a cycle if you're already in the groove, rather than having to go through hel the first couple weeks of the cycle. Just my two cents.
