We thought he had a stroke but it turns out it was an aneurysm. They med-vac'd him to a better hospital apparently and he's in ICU but still not conscious (this happened 10:30 this morning)

This is very traumatic. it took 10 mins for Emergency personel to arrive all the while he was having tremors and then he was vomitting and blood came out of his nose.

I'm really upset by this. I worked very closely with him for my first 1.5 yrs on the job - sat next to him and we became close.

We had a counselor here onsite already so we could all process through this traumatic event. I cant even concentrate on what Im doing here and I feel a heavy weight in my chest and head. Like i need a nap in order to cope.

Anyone else ever experience this kind of thing on the job?

Wow sorry to hear that. How old is this guy? Is he a healthy guy?

No, but my friend gets seizures a lot. At any given time, actually usually at night, he would just start flailing around and can't breath I think. His wife is with him so she calls the ambulance, but it's not fun. They tried to get him to repeat the seizures at the hospital to "fix" it, but they couldn't induce it.

I swear, one day I fully expect to get "the call" from a loved one of his... It sucks!! He's my only friend. Seriously.

Good luck smurfs. You'll be OK.

Not completely on topic but regarding emergency rescue service, our city's hospital just built a new helipad about 120 ft from our building. It's cool seeing it land and take off from so close. I have to wonder how it'll be in the winter with all the ice.

At least an aneurism has a reasonable prognosis for recovery, if he can pull through the first day.

Yeah I hope so. I'm really nervous and scared of getting bad news about him. I hope I can sleep tonight.
