Hi, I work abroad a lot but the problem is that some of the places Im going to I dont have access to a gym and my training is realy suffering but waht can I do its my job. I can be away for 1 month to 2 months at a time. Im looking for a set of dumbells that weight pretty much nothing for my suitcase but when I get to my destination I can fill with water or sand, once filled they need to be about 35-40kg. Ive been looking on the net but cant seem to track anything down.

HELP!!!!!!!!!

Pick up rocks and trees, barrels, pipes, furniture. It can be a lot of fun learning to pick up oddly-shaped objects and squat with them or press them overhead.

I doubt you'll find what you're looking for just from a volume consideration. 35-40Kg of water will require 35-40 liters, which is 8 or 9 Imperial gallons or 11 American gallons.

Looks like you should focus on bodyweight excersizes. pushups, handstand shoulder press(feet on wall), pullups, hindu squats. or look into rubber bands. if you get the heavy duty bands (not the bitch bands) and double or triple them up, you can have a hell of a workout and throw them in your suit case when done!! check out jc santana or intocombat.com. peace. :)

Bands could be good but I agree with blut wump, try adopting a more strongman odd object type routine. Logs, barrels, kegs, cars, big tires, concrete rope, dirt, rocks whatever. Pick that shit up, throw it around then rest and repeat.

Or try getting a day pass to a local gym or something.

Thanks for the replys and ideas, Im going to see about getting some of those bands. The more things I have to give my workouts a bit of variation the better so it looks like ill be doing lots of press ups and the like, oh yeh and Ill be looking for those rocks aswel. I cant get a day pass for any gyms because there arent any the areas Im working in, the africans arent big on body building, youll maybe get gyms in the capitals but venture out in to the sticks and you knackered.

If you want something that requires no equipment and can do a lot to improve conditioning and body comp, try sprinting. You could make sprinting the foundation of your routines, then add resistance work to whatever extent is possible with available implements.
