If you can't find any good reason to do AM cardio... you don't like waking up that early, you have no energy, you think it burns muscle, you don't have the time before work/school, etc... do it for one reason: THE INCREDIBLE ENDORPHIN RUSH.

I swear I just got off my stairclimber after 30 minutes of gut busting dripping with sweat almost passed out cardio, and you know what? I feel friggen high! Granted I can't capture this badass feeling every morning, but I do aim for it, and when I achieve it, my day always starts out badass (hell, I start it out high lol).

For those of y'all who've never tried it, I say give it a go... trust me bros... you're missing out :). later

bro, i think you got your opiates and amphetamines confused, you mean to say you have a rush similar to an amphetamine, not an opiate(painkillers, heroin, etc)

I don't know which drug endorphines can be compared to but it's nice..

I would still say opiates because it's a calm, overall well-being.

I love cardio.....30 minutes a day and I have more energy than ever.....You definately feel the difference....increased appetite, less tired.....cardio is good stuff!

I know what you mean bro. I is like a euphoric feeling after workout that lasts throughout the day.

Unfortunately like everything else you get used to it and get diminishing returns. Not unlike my first experience getting high LOL!:havoc: :havoc: :havoc: :havoc:

No bro... what you're referring to is an adrenaline (epinephrine) rush... you get that when you're scared or excited or gotta act fast (fight or flight reaction)--but you're right, that's similar to the action amphetamines (e.g. speed) have on a person.

Endorphins are the body's endogenous opiates... and you're right, they're in the same family as heroin and morphine (endORPHIN, mORPHINe)... they get released at times of severe stress... for the purpose of decreasing your perception of pain. They represent a natural "pain killer" that allow one to continue doing what he's doing... oblivious to the pain. They are what allow a soldier in battle to continue fighting... even though his left arm is chopped off. They are what allow a mother to pull her baby out of a burning car, even though her own legs are trapped under 2 tons of steel. And yes, they are what allow us to push past that barrier when we're doing cardio... just when we feel like we're about to pass out and die... we somehow push onwards, and we get our "second wind." Now THAT is exactly the feeling I love :)! later bros

I love cardio, espeically running. I ge tthe best feeling after pushing thoruhg a good 6 mile run. Unfortunately I can never keep it up for more than a month, my knees and especially my shins always give out!

Yeah dude I think running is the SHIT... unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you right now... gained too much weight (both muscle and fat) about a year ago and now I can't run without my knees and back hurting. I'm gonna get back down to a svelte 175 lbs, and start up again... nothing beats that "runner's high!" later
