Freaking diet is paying off in spades

Last week I broke 200lbs. I am at 198. I traveled all last week and thought I may gain but went in Friday and just stayed level. It works kinda weird with the weight loss. one week I will stay the same, then the next loose like 3 or 4. Jumped right back into the diet this weekend.

I am also seeing a lot more definition. I am looking at maybe getting some protein shakes going. Not sure what the benefit will be besides keeping my metabolism up. Pipe up with your suggestions. If I can get to 185 in the next few months I will be really impressed with my self. That’s 11 more pounds. I haven't weighed under 200 in 20 years. It's amazing what a little hard work can do.

drink protein after you work out for a maximum anabolic effect....more muscle means more fat burning

what kind of diet you on bro?

Adding protien shakes to get 5-6 meals in per day (really hard with just whole foods) will increase your metabolism... that's benefit enough.

Plus.... if you are trying to build muscle - you're going to need the extra protien - it's unlikely you are getting enough protien from your whole food diet.

Oh... and ur PHAT.

How's the new girl? Spill it.

I prefer to eat my food & only drink Protein shakes PWO.....but it's up to you....a lot of people drink them in order to get in all the grams of protein they need per day....

Basically the brown rice and chicken diet plan. Actually counting calories to keep it around 3000 per week and working out 4-5 times a week. Cardio every day I work out. Trying to burn about 1000 calories a week.

3000 a week???

the muscle must be melting off of you

Yes... there is no direct correlation between consuming protien shakes and weight loss. Of course not, they are simply MORE CALORIES.

To loose weight you have to be on a calorie deficit, plane and simple.

See my other posts... protien shakes are part of the overall plan. And - what JB said.. when you increase your Lean Body Mass you are increasing your Basal Metabolic Rate which means your body is going to burn more calories on it's on each day.

I have some good results in muscle building but want more (of course). New girl is o.k. We had a but of a make out session before I left for CA. It was weird. Not sure i'm into it. We are both f'd in the head I think. What about your hair cut girl?

I'm assuming you mean 3K per day, but that's great man. Good job. I've lost 30 lbs since July. Most all of it's fat. Keep it up.

Like Jh said, you should take a shake only to replace a missed meal. If you can't have a meal for 6 hours or so, then split the time in half at 3 hours and have the shake. Eating every 3 hours should be your goal. Or maybe even less, but that should do.

You may want to throw in some fats with the shake, depending on your other meals.

Try and get a customized protein with everything you need in it. good luck

I didn't have any muscle to start with

what exactly do you eat in a given day. I don't know how you could be working out and only taking in 428 calories a day.

Hair Cut Girl = My best friend. I seriously want to keep it that way...

On another note, I had some freak a leek buy me $300 bed sheets... weirdo. I posted about it.

Yeah bro... being with girls freaks me out as well. I don't know how it goes with you, but for some reason I feel like they all want to 'Save' me from my situation. Please. I just want a BJ... don't get all deep on me.

How was CA? Did you meet up with Lesbro?

Yeah broham ....

TF... no way you are at 3k a week. You mean a day? Seems a tad high for a day, but no possible for a week - too low.

What's going on with ur diet... post up.

brown rice, chicken breast 2x, then fruit and water. may replace one of the meals with a salad. It's not perfectly 428, more like 1000 per day i would imagine. I want to lose the fat first and then gain the muscle.

1 thing you can do to burn those kind of calories. I just joined another gym as my current one sucks and had no ellipticals. I hit the precor elliptical trainer for 1 hour 3 times a week and I burn 1000 calories each time I do it. Works great, easy on the knees too. 3 hours a week, 3000 calories. FYI, I take sat and sunday off and do legs on friday.

If you want to drop the fat and keep any muscle, you need to be taking in at LEAST 1g of protein per lb of lbm or all you'll do is lose muscle and be skinny fat. Plus, dropping weight that fast will make you all kinds of sick. And weak.

ok, I see.

I'd say you need more of your cals to come from protein, and probably more cals in general.

when I am dieting, i will usually base my caloric intake on a formula like this:

lean body weight x 10 = total cals per day

so, if your lean body weight is 160lbs, you'd be shooting for 1600 cals/day.

I'd say at this point, you are semi-starving yourself, which isn't beneficial to your metabolism

Geezuz christ you are for real @ 3k a week. Fug man.. I don't know how you have the energy to get a decent workout in.

Fructose sucks balls as a carb, BTW.

I guess if you're happy with youre results and you can live with it keep going. To each his own. No way I could do that, nor would I get the results I wanted.. you can't build any muscles on that diet -but it looks like ur looking to do that later.

I'd be doing Clen & T3 (no they are not steroids) and eating some decent food instead of being so dang low on calories.

oh yeah. . .how bout some pix?? my fat pix are in my gallery (and my current avi). . .i'm gonna post up some more around july 4th, at the height of my diet. . .oh. . .btw. . .at 42, it ain't coming off as easy as last year. . .i was 240 when the pic in my avi was taken. . .i'm 225 now. . .

I am happy with the weight loss, but not so much on the muscle build up. I want to loose the gut, but it is a slow go. I guess I want to understand more about how to continue the weight loss and then bulk a bit on the muscle growth.

Unless some nutritionist with more knowledge than me or the peeps on ef built that diet for you... I'd change it.

Up your calories, up your protien... like JB said 10x your Lean Body Mass on calories... at least a gram of protien for each lb of body weight.

I think your workout will be better, and your body will have the raw materials it needs to build / repair muscle. Right now you are starving yourself and your body is catablic - which you want when you are trying to loose weight, but this 'crash' diet is going to really eat up alot of Lean Body Mass which is hard to build back.

Got the shakes and talked to the guy at GNC a bit. See how that goes. He reccomended some supliments but I can't afford that shit at this point.

bro... no more GNC... I didn't know you were gonna run out and buy that shit today...

Nobody can afford GNC prices on anything..

Don't buy an supps with out checking here first.

DPSNut rition.com for Optimum Nutrition 10lb bags of protein or all thewhey.com for even larger bulk...

WAY WAY cheaper than GNC....

Only supps I take: Protien, BCAAs, Multivitamins, Creatine (sometimes)...

I take some other shit for burning fat.. but I am not sure if you're interested in that crap or not...

guy at GNC tried to get me to buy fish oil tabs or some shit like that. He said the protine would help me keep loosing but build muscle. He tried to get me to buy some other sups but I can't afford it right now. Said Creatine would help with building muscle as well. I just ended up buying a big ole tub of whey. 29$ I'll check the site next time.

You're not bad. You need muscle though. Take all the above advice, and also don't go the GNC.

I didn't read the middle part of the thread, but you need a muscle building workout and more sensible eating regime. I agree thwe calories are way too low. Starvation mode will keep the bodyfat on you with a slower metabolism.

Again, the reason for the protein shakes is if you miss a whole food meal, you can supplement with the shake. Eat every 2-3 hours. Good luck.

Like was said before, muscle burns fat... get muscle...

Yeah, that's my point with the shakes for a meal replacement. maybe add some flax in there.
