I found this in some stuff last night and thought I would post it up. Makes me think about the directions life takes people.
Where are You Taking Me?
Where are you taking me? Where will we go?
Down another empty road?
Or on towards the summer of our lives
Broken dreams and sorrows line the same old paths
Timid ness and caution are the lamps overhead
Holding us back from going far
Where are you taking me? Where will we go?
We’ve been down this road too many times before
Another glance down an empty lane
Lets us know how alone we are
Winters’ coming chill makes us think of springs past
When all these broken rows were new
Old age’s wishful dreaming reminds us of our youth
Unfulfilled and empty because we didn’t choose
To follow springtime’s yearnings
Where are you taking me? Where will we go?
Maybe just a little farther than yesterday
Endless nights wishing sad alone
Never guessing the importance of one untaken road.
Formulating just enough dreams to fill the day
Uncaring of falls descent and winters stormy ways
Where are you taking me? Where will we go?
Perhaps to drift along until we reach the sea.
Then each direction looks just like the next
We think then that our choices are but a mute point
Unrealizing of the dangers apathy may bring
Adrift along as summer’s waters start to freeze
But now our choice is simple, head on back to shore
Now back again, we are on that broken lane
Where are you taking me? Where will we go?
Perhaps now we should look where no lamps glow.
For if we start anew…..
Who know where we’ll go.
Then maybe we just might,
Figure out exactly where we want to go
So I guess if you are ready now
You can take me to where we’ll go.
Cheers,
