Fortesta for HRT

My doctor just prescribed me Fortesta to increase my testosterone. Anyone who has used this, did you feel any improvements while taking it? I wasn't too keen on using a gel product having an 11 and 8 year old around but he said as long as I keep the area covered they are fine. Kind of puts a hamper on the nocturnal activities too, "Sure honey just let me get some soap and water and wash my legs first." If I have to wash it off to have sex do I reapply some more afterwards or just wait til I am supposed to apply it the next day? Any more info on this form of Testosterone would be appreciated.
 
How old are you? I recently took Fortesta for 4 months and feel it worked better than Androgel. 4 pumps a day. I think I remember the instructions saying to leave it for minimum of 4 hours, so regardless the circumstances for washing it off, if it's been on for that amount of time then the dose has been effective for that day. No more needed. If I knew my schedule was going to be different, I'd just plan around it. After talking to my doc about goals, etc. he put me on TestC 200mg pw. Start with the Fortesta and see if it's effective for you. If not, go back and ask for injectable test. I'm 55 and have been on HRT for a couple years.
 
I will be 35 in a couple weeks. I originally went in asking for a blood test because I thought I had high estrogen due to having Gyno since I was a teenager. He said my estrogen was in the normal range but my testosterone was low I started looking up low testosterone and realized how many symptoms I had. I'm hoping taking this won't make my gyno worse than what it is now.


Figured I would add some stats for anyone who may want to chime in. Ultimately would love to get all my symptoms back in check while getting rid of the gyno if possible.

Height - 6' 6"
Weight - 283 lbs (would like to be in the 250-260 range again with more muscle than I had before :) )
Bodyfat - 25% maybe? don't want to say some lower number to make me look better.mainly the chest and abdomen for my fat areas

Total T was 272 ng/dl 332-896 range
Estradiol was 32pg/mL 0-56 pg/ml range

Ok I know I need to give it more time than just a week that I have been on Fortesta but shouldn't I have felt anything different by now? My doctor has me on 2 pumps a day of the 10mg gel. Due to my size is that enough to feel anything? The Fortesta website said minimums usually start out at 4 pumps but since I have had gyno since I was 14 maybe my doctor is just starting low. The website also said to get rechecked at 2 weeks and then 35 days but my doctor said to come back in about 8 weeks. If he does decide to up my dosage that will most likely cause me more estrogen and better chance of making my gyno worse? I mentioned Aromasin to him since Needto told me to get some liquidStane to correct my gyno but my doctor just let it pass and I didnt want to keep asking him about it.

yes it may cause the gyno to get worse and no you will feel it in about 2-3 weeks. Also transdermals dry and are completely obsorbed after about 3 hours so you do not have to worry about it getting on your girl when having sex later.

I will give it more time and get my blood rechecked when he wants me to. I will post those results when I get them or pm them to you. It may be another 6 weeks though. I was hoping he would prescribe me the Aromasin. I mentioned in my last pm that I was nervous about ordering LiquidStane as I was unsure of the legality and I have never done anything worse than a few drinks here and there or a cigar once every few years :) .
 
Another question I have is about supplements and or vitamins I should be taking. I have never taken any type of supplements or vitamins before. I don't even take any medicine for headache or my sinuses unless my wife notices I'm in pain or can't breathe through my nose and hands them to me. I asked the doctor about multi -vitamin and he told me to take a pre natal vitamin since they have everything I should need. Anyone else used those as a male? A better multi-vitamin available? Any other vitamins or supplements that would benefit? I may be interested in some type of protein to add since It looks like I should be eating well of 200g of that per day and I doubt I consume quite that much in all my meals.

Sorry for all the basic questions that have probably been answered a thousand times. Up until a few years ago I just never needed to worry about anything as I always felt good and was always strong naturally, never had to really lift weights ever. I am sure I have a lot more to ask but won't at this time so I don't scare off the help and suggestions of others too fast
 
Usually 3 days a week with a buddy but lately just been shooting some hoops as I broke a couple ribs about a month ago and I can still feel pain in my chest if I forget to take the Diclofenac the doc prescribed. I have no issue going into the gym if others suggest going more than 3 days per week. I will say that I told my doctor I just don't feel as strong anymore and it almost feels like my bones will snap sometimes.

U'd be a lot better if u switch to injectables like test cyp or e.

Ok a small update as it has been about 4 weeks since I started on 2 pumps of the Fortesta. I still don't feel much energy to do things. My sleep has gotten a lot worse, I can't fall asleep until 3:30 or 4 in the morning sometimes and I have to get up at 7 to get kids to school and go to any calls for work. After about 2 or 3 hours of being awake I get tired and can sleep in my truck for 3 or 4 more hours if I don't have any work to do or can push it off for the next day. I still end up getting about 7 hours a day which is fine but I could be getting a lot more done in the day work wise if I could get it all before 7 am. My libido has gone down quite a bit also to where I don't even have a desire to rub one out.
I am waiting for the doctor to call me back so I can let him know a few of these concerns but he probably won't get back to me until Monday since he doesn't work on Fridays in the office. I'm hoping he will want to have me come in for blood tests so we can see whats going on.

If I go in for blood tests should I take my Fortesta in the morning like usual or wait? At what point after I use the gel is my test the highest and lowest? I am going to ask about switching to injections but I am sure he will only want to adjust my gel dosage. I am just afraid that my test and estradiol levels will both be in the normal range and he won't want to change anything.
 
Take your gel and wait 4 hours so you have a stable blood testosterone level and then get your blood drawn.

I used this for a month after my blood work showed my T at 257........a month later I was at 170........ I used it daily for my 7 hours of sleep!
Am not sure was up with these Endo's not wanting to prescribe injectable T......it's like it takes n act of God to get the good stuff.....wth?
I went to n HRT Clinic n got what I needed......quick too!
I was at 170......what more did my Endo need to see? I canned him on the spot n went to the clinic n I suggest you do the same!
 
I asked my Doctor at my last appointment to go to injections. He said sure and gave me a script for 200mg every 2 weeks. I asked if we could change it to 100mg per week and he said that was ok. So as of April 2nd I have been on 100mg of Cyp per week and have noticed a little bit of a difference. I give myself a shot on Monday and by late Friday early Saturday I can't wait til Monday for my shot again.

Blood tests in about 3 weeks so we will see what those look like now but I still think something is off. I still don't have a lot of energy, get tired during the day a little more often then before but I have been getting more sleep at night. Some days I feel great in the gym but others not so much, my libido is better than when I was on Fortesta so that is much better.

Were you prescribed any HGC, or anti estrogen meds?
 
You can double check on this, but after the inital application, and waiting a few hours, apply skin moisturizer, which apparently increases absorption, and kinda seals the area from contact to others. I'm currenly on agel 1, but dont like it; inj is better.
 
No HCG for me or anti E meds. I have asked him about Aromasin but he said no. We will see how my Estrogen is after bloodtest.
 
How is your diet ? And I read your activity levels are low due to previous broken ribs. If you were to get on a good diet plan, with a higher activity level chances are after dropping some body fat you will start to feel more energetic again. Now while taking 100 mg / test per week and doing the above mentioned, you should be able to start making some good progress. Are you looking to get into better shape? or just feel better/ more energetic? Either way I think you should take into account the food you are eating right now and maybe even post up your average daily food intake, diet can have a major impact on your hormones, energy levels, sleeping patterns.
 
My diet is my weak point for sure. I have never taken the time to count macros or anything to that extent. I know for sure that I eat way too many carbs, I love bread, crackers and noodles. I would love to be able to talk with a nutritionist about my goals and diet. I know there are online nutritionists that can help with my diet but I really like face to face meetings. I guess I shouldn't be so judgmental but every nutritionist I have seen is either fatter than me or average looking and I would like to find one who is muscular and more in lines of how I would want to look. Dinner would be my only meal that I would like to have a very large variety of options for as I have 2 young kids and a wife to please also.

Yes I want to be in better shape. My bodyfat has gotten pretty bad over the years and the last 3 times the gym has measured I have been between 20 - 22%. The accuracy on those is not that great so it may be higher but not much. I currently am 6' 6" and 285 lbs and would like to get to 10 - 12% bodyfat again. I currently only go 3 days a week to the gym and my only cardio is the weights although I love to swim so may start that again soon. I don't look fat but when someone my size starts to lose weight I always get the "man you look skinny" and that is depressing. If I could get down to 260 and not look "skinny" that would be ideal.

Here is what I can give you in terms of my so called "diet". I don't count calories or macros even though I should. If I can get all my calories and macros down for everything besides my dinner meal with my family then that meal would be the only one that would be changing daily.

Breakfast-- 6 days per week is 1 cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of lowfat yogurt, 1banana, 1 hard boiled egg. Sunday is either 4 medium sized pancakes or 6 scrambled eggs with 3 links sausage and 2 cups hashbrowns

Lunch--- any of the following but 5 days of the week I have the chicken
8oz chicken breast 1 cup white rice
2 roast beef and turkey with 1 slice of cheese sandwiches
1 day of week I get a foot long subway club

Dinner--- any of the following includes either noodles, mashed or red potatoes, or white rice
and either green beans or corn
Chicken, Cod, Pork loins, Steak, 80/20 hamburger, Lasagna, Spaghetti, 1 day is
always hamburger helper of the kids choice because they really like them

Snacks-- I usually eat 1 hard boiled egg and a bag of carrots in between bkfst and lunch
I eat 2 hardboiled eggs between lunch and dinner
After dinner snack is usually a sandwich with just peanut butter between 8:30/9
sometimes I eat cheese and crackers instead though

I know it is a horrible diet, if you even want to call it that. I am not the biggest dessert person. I don't like sweet potatoes so that would be out for any options. I am also picky with a few other things but mainly onions and peppers and the such.

I am open any and all suggestions concerning diet as long as I have a lot of options for dinner. If I have to buy more chicken or red meat or pork for all my other food intake I am all for that. I do all the cooking for my family so I can pre make all my daytime meals on Sunday.

Although I don't want to be a bodybuilder, I would like to look muscular with an easily maintained lower bodyfat percentage anywhere in the 10 to no more than 15 percent. Some measurements as of tonight are chest 52 1/2, waist at bellybutton 41 (fat I know), bicep 18 1/2, forearm 14 1/4, quads 24 1/2 (chicken legs), calves 18. I am a big guy but I see fat and small arms and chicken legs where as others say I am intimidating looking ( I do shave my head and have a long goatee though.)

I've been taking Fortesta for about 3 months now .. I feel great! Ive been back to the gym and my body is shaping up like it did in my 40's ( now 52).. my work outs are good and last longer.. no more depression.

BUT !!!.. i have began to notice my testicles are shrinking, and the less product on ejactulation, nipple enlargement and ... today even some unexpected urine leaking.. kinda scaring me some..

Not sure of the trade off
 
I'm not on TRT but from reading experiences of others, it sounds to me like there are more potential estrogen issues with transdemal compared with IM, for some reason.
