For those who 5x5

I take as much time as I need until I feel ready to go at the weights again. I dont time my rest periods at all. It is hard to explain, but I just "know" when Im ready to hit up the weights again. Sometimes I take longer rests, other days I fly through it. I don't think it makes any sense (on the 5x5) to go at the weights again if you are still exhausted from the last set.

i dont have a set time between sets. i just go after my partner does one of his sets. we just switch sets on and off.

On a straight bodybuilding program like this, I'd say rest as long as you need to complete the sets.

The length of rest time doesn't have a noticeable impact on growth as long as you complete the sets and don't go to failure.

That's what I do too. An identical workout might take anywhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on how I'm feeling.

I don't think that is a relevant point when you are resting long enough to be able to lift at a suitable intensity, within reason of course. I never rest for any less than 1 minute and never any more than 4-5 minutes. If I'm always going to be able to give my all on a set, then that is a fixed variable as far as I am concerned.

I dont quite follow your logic here. Unless you are doing some sort of endurance training, how important is the time frame between sets for you? I dont think that resting longer produces some false sense of strength. In fact I think if you rush your sets you wont have a good idea of how strong you actually are.
