For those of you that eat at Outback: are you suppose to tip for curbside takeaway?

Re: For those of you that eat at Outback: are you suppose to tip for curbside takeawa

i always tip 20% and then i add on top of that for really good service

LOL wtf is "really good service" for someone walking your food out to your car? not tripping on the way?

Re: For those of you that eat at Outback: are you suppose to tip for curbside takeawa

Waiters and waitresses prefer cash tips if possible. If you write the tip amount on the credit receipt, they are liable for taxes for extra income for that...I think. They are liable for cash tips actually, but cash is better for them.

Exactly why I tip via credit card. They should pay taxes on it. That's why our deficit is so high. You can't expect the government to provide services for you for free. (Don't get me started on the pork barrel spending. That's for another day.)

I always tip 10% for carryout (even if I walk into the restaurant to pick it up), 15-20% dine in depending on service. If service sucks, they get 1% -- enough that they know you're tipping but not enough to mean anything. (If you don't tip anything they'll think you might have forgotten.)

so you guys tip 10% even for carry out? if i walk into a joint i'm 100% not tipping. to me that's senseless

i did curbside takeaway today which is you call in and just pick up the food. they come to your car and drop off the food and you are on your way.

i wasn't sure if you were suppose to tip for this service. i guess i'll know if i was suppose to tip if i get sick after finishing my food.

Do you tip at fast food joints when they make you pull ahead and wait a couple minutes and then send an employee out with your gubbins?

Yeah I agree, if i open the door and walk in, to carry out my food, who am I tipping? The cook?

No, because those people are paid $5.50+ per hour and don't depend on tips for their wages. Waitresses at dine-in restaurants are paid $2.65-3/hr and must get the rest from tips. As far as I know, this includes the carry-out girls/guys.

Maybe they should find a better job as a waiter/waitress. As far as I know they just grab the closest wait staff to deliver the rare takeout order. In college, 1994, my roomie used to take a couple hundred bucks home in tips on a good night at J Alexanders. It's one thing to tip someone that takes care of you for an hour as opposed to someone that spends 10 seconds on your dining experience.

I always wondered this........I usually tip them $1-2 thats it.....for them to just walk out and hand me a bag of food Im not tipping them 10%......besides I always wait a long time to get my food when I do curbside takeaway from outback..........love their blooming onion and cheese fries!!!! Throw both of those back and you have a whopping 4500cal snack. When I eat in I usually tip 20% unless the waiter sucked ass then its 10-15%.
