For how long do you take creatine?

I usually take creatine for a cycle of 2 months, then 2 months off, and repeat. I'm wondering if taking it for a 4 months, or even 5 months would be too long. I'd like to start taking it now, and take it until the end of August, that way I can have the water retention all throughout summer and look bigger. :D

I've heard if you take creatine too long, your body stops producing creatine. I'm sure that's wrong though, I hope. :)

i dont do it past one month your body gets used to it after a while and you dont notice gains.then ill stay off for at least 3 months.

You only use it for a month at a time? IMO that really isn't long enough, because it takes a good week to load into the muscles. I make huge gains for the whole 2 month cycle. So maybe I'll try a longer cycle and see what happens. I'm just wondering if it's good. :fro:

why do you ask a question then we u get a response you still stick to youre preconceived notion of what is good? stupid....

and for the record.. i agree with sausage.

I use creatine for 4 weeks then I take a week off and repeat. I've tried 6 week, and 8 week cycles I get the same results when using it for 4 weeks.

Longest I've taken it for was 2 months. The first couple years it was out, it seemed to be generally accepted that the body adapted to the effects within 8 weeks. 4-8 weeks off usually took care of that. It also seems that creatine reactions are very individualized, moreso than most supplements. So, you'll have to do the trial and error thing.

From the research I've done, it takes up to a month for the creatine levels to drop back to normal after you stop use of creatine. That's why I take a couple months off, so that the creatine levels in my muscles drop to natural levels. If you stop taking it for a week, do you guys even notice a drop of performance? Maybe I'll try the 1 month on 1 week off thing.
