I am about to paint my windshield wipers off my car a 94 mustang..I have sanded them and am ready to apply the first coat.

Would anyone know what kind of paint i should use/ do i need a primer...etc?

Any help would be appreciated.

are they plastic or metal...What grit sand paper did you use..Did you use the black wet sand paper or regular stuff.

I used regular 120....

I am new to this kind of thing even though i used to be a painter but it doen't quite help me all that much because i worked on houses...

They are metal.

OK, this may be a really stupid question (and if so I'm sorry).

But why did you sand your windshield wipers?? Have you repainted the car. etc?? Need a little more info.

I've owned a couple of Mustang's so I'd like to help.

Really!!!!!

Go to your local paint store, auto parts store, etc...... get some primer and get automotive spray paint, clear coat, and some degreaser is what I think they call it (you wipe down whatever you are painting so you don't get fish eyes, orange peel, etc.....

Prime them, wet sand them with 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper, wipe down with degreaser, prime them again, sand them again. Wipe them down with degreaser, spray a light LIGHT coat of the paint on, let it dry..... depending on where you are at 45 minutes to 1.5 hrs, then paint them again (Light coat again). After this coat you should have full coverage (can't see any primer at all). You can sand them again very lightly with the 400 Grit or go to 600. Paint them again, lightly sand, paint again, lightly sand, paint again, lightly sand then put the clear coat on at least 2 layers.

2 - 3 layers of primer, 4 - 6 layers of paint, 2 - 3 layers of clear coat.

Good luck.
