F'n workout partners!

I don't know about all of you, but I go through workout partners, just like tubs of protein. They all start out with great intentions but as soon as they figure out that I don't play, uh oh, their grandmas get sick, girlfriend conflicts start to arise, long bouts of the flu, "extra stuff at work keeps coming up", or the best "I read it's better to do high reps with really low weight" excuse arises. Just thought I'd try to get a little sympathy from my kinfolk on the board.

Me, too!

I hate workign out w/ others.

When I was married (and dating my ex) it wasn't so bad, because i knew I was keeping her in shape (personal gains for me.. hehe).

But, otherwise... don't want to deal w/ the chit-chat, downtime, coordination, etc..

I generally tend to train in a pretty "fly by the seat of my pants" routein, admittedly. I definitely try to get my workouts in for the week, but I often don't know i'm going to be going to the gym 10 mins before i'm in my car.

In the gym it's just me and my tunes on the MP3P.... all business.

yeah I work alone too. I used to have great workout buddies but then they all left after college (conan69 being one of them, very inspirational if not downright crazy man). but now I train in the mornings and I like it better that way because I have a HUGE gym all to myself.

I have not had a partner in almost 7 years... I think I am going to need one soon though to push my training to the next level.

I feel your pain Bro' training partners are about as unreliable as the weather. I have burned thru at least 4 different partners, one guy in less than a month, pussy.

Train by yourself, push yourself to the limit and when needed have the gym staff spot for you. Make sure you tell them not to touch the bar until you ask for it, these freakin' idiots don't know shit!!, and then just enuff' to get the bar moving again! I train alone and sit there inbetween sets watching the "fluffs" stand around and talk for 10 min then, and this is my favorite, grab 75's rip out 4-5 reps and drop them from the top to the floor.

ASSHOLES!

Stay strong Bro'...

I don't like guys that throw weights :mix: If you can pick it up then you can set it down.

just kidding bro, I agree completely these guys stand around talking on their cell phones and then they ask questions why they are small and how to get bigger. funny shit.

Yeah they suck, I have been working out solo for the last 3 years and may never have one again. Sure a good one may help to push you, but more often than not they are just a distraction, late or noshows. Modified my workout, stick mainly to dumbells... easier to drop dumbells than get stuck under the bar trying to squeeze out that last rep. But for leg days a good workout partner is really needed.

I'm lucky, I have several close friends who are great training partners (intense, knowledgeable, considerate etc.), I have trained with sit partners though and it really holds you back.

I'm VERY fortunate. My work-out partner is a professional trainer who spends hours figuring out the best training schedule. I just copy what he does. He doesn't juice and thinks I'm crazy for doing it, but he's jealous of the gains!

I agree 1000%. A good workout partner is like finding a needle in a haystack almost...it happens, but its almost rare. I train alone usually too, and it does suck, because, in the past, when I have had decent partners (or even spotters who actually give a shit), I life more, get into it more, get a better pump. We should start a support group!! LOL. I feel your pain...my gym...about 90% of the crowd is there to look cool, talk in groups or on the phone, ask everyone, constantly, "how many sets do you have left", even though they themselves are not doing shit, except ruinning back and forth to the shake bar and the bathroom. Sheeesh.

Hey bro, Very true

When in school I had some good workout P's

Stonecold was great, til you went to that HIT shite LOL
Mike (you know who) was intense except for the fact he was always late and talked way to much

And of course my good bro Heavyironman

Now I cant find one worth shite, so I have to work out alone

I am however taking applications LOL

I myself have a reliable workput partner who is very vocal when I am not feeling one hundred percent, whether it be tired and just distracted by whats going on in the personal life.

He makes sure I push myself and I am sure to go to the gym even when my schedule gets crazy. The guy's name is D-Bol. I also sometime work out with Test and Winny. Thank god for those guys!

Ya I feel ya also. I finally found a wicked training partner and he moved on me. I find a training partner is only good if he means business as well, and if you are very close to using the same weights on most lifts, and if you are on the same routine (I know ... asking a lot). I hate training with a pussy or a chick, nothing worse than having to change weight after every set.

I have substituted my old training partner for an Mp3 player now. I think that I actually like it better. I get super pumped from the rockin tunes, and I am in and out faster, strictly business bro.

I cant stand when people take cell phones to the gym. I also cant stand when people sit around and socialise when they are sitting on a bench or machine I need. I always go and tell them that i need it, no waiting around for me ... and for the most part they give it up pretty fast.

Yub, partners are hard to find.
That's why I never had one.
Besides, in a small town, not many people look at working out the way we do here at Elite.

I hate training partners and have not used one in several years. Also, what about the guys who come and want you you to write them a lifting and diet routine. You spend 30 minutes of your time trying to help them and then they never pick up a freaking weight again. I hate that. Bam

This is when i give them a swift kick to the junk, to confirm they dont have a gash, if they dont they deserve it anyways

I'm having a problem with a workout partner right now! Problem is he is a long time friend for the last 15 years. He just SUCKS as a workout partner. We'll always plan what time to meet after each workout and then 2-3 times a week he calls, 10 minutes b4 we are to meet, and says he can't make it because....(fill in excuse here). F*cking annoying!!!

I'm in a bit of a slump, and could really use a good partner for some motivation. I dont think I have it in me to go at it alone 100% right now! I have worked out by myself in the past with good results and it looks like I will have to dig deep and do it again!

I have some Thermorexin and Yohimburn DF on the way, so I am planning some new goals of getting lean which will help on the motivation.

BTw, the best workout partner I ever had was a good friend of mine who was a girl. Stripping weight was never fun, but she was always there, always in a good mood, and always motivated to push us both harder than the previous workout.

FattyBri, I'm actually planning on going that same route - I know my girl would actually show up consistently, but the only problem is there would be no way in hell I could do free-weight rest pause type exercises at the kind of intensity I like. The weights get damn near scary when you get to a certain level. The problem in my case is that the gym I train at doesn't have a rack and the Smith machines are fucking rusty, lol. Anyway, I'll adapt as usual.

The best work out partner is yerself....and descending sets are your freind...I have not had a partner in 12 years and don't need one for motivation spots or what ever...

I would just give all of these unmotivated training partners about 100mg of Xenedrine before your workout. That ought to get their asses pumped up and ready to roll for heavyduty!

My w/o partner is out for 8-12 weeks for a shoulder inj. I've been lifting solo and don't mind the change really. One of my buddies called me last friday after his w/o partner noshowed on him. Turns out some fucker ran the guys bike off the road and killed him. It's Fucked up.....

i have never had a partner partner , just strengh coaches who bust your balls to the wall and those bastards are there all the time cuz the love there jobs and they get paid....playing big time sports is nice cuz strengh coaches are the best:D
