Floor Presses

Did some floor presses tonight. . . good stuff, but hard as hell.

The pause was difficult, but I worked through it.

I did four sets:

10-10-4-2 in terms of reps to get the feel, of course nothing to failure and nothing extraordinarily heavy.

One guy came up to me and asked my what kind of bench press I was performing. . .I said floor presses ;). . .he seemed really interested.

I plan on using these in my routine and I plan to progress.

Who else uses floor presses in their routine?

cool man, i like how you mix ideas from different priciples to suit your needs

awesome job

I didn't have a spotter so I had to be careful.

t3c,

I use:

-good mornings
-box squats
-speed squats
-floor presses
-close grip lockouts

to help build strength and size. . .these movements are also great for improving my core movements.

This is what I performed this evening:

1. Incline BB Presses - 2 sets x 10,5
2. Floor Presses - 4 sets x 10,10,4,2
3. Seated BB Presses - 3 sets x 10
4. Close Grip Bench Presses - 3 sets x 10
5. Barbell Rows - 3 sets x 10
6. Chins - 3 x failure
7. Barbell Shrugs - 3 x 10

My fat ass had a hard time with chins, since I put on a couple of pounds. Lots of light training to take a break from the heavy stuff.

i like them too. i had to do them on the smith machine though because my cheesy gym doesnt have a power rack and nothing is low enough to act as a lift off point. i think i would like it more if i could move more in a natural groove vs. the one that the smith locks me into.

just lay on the floor. have nonerez deadlift as you push up..... works just as good.

nice to see you tryin wsb techniques louden...... we might make a powerlifter out of you yet!!!!

X

You guys are too much. . .lol!!

Lets modify the equation:

WSB Techniques/Exercises + Low Volume + Buffets = Gain in strength/muscle.

Dont they really fatigue your triceps?

Triceps work really hard during this exercises.

On the floor press, the bar is only 2 inches from touching my chest (nearly full range).

My ribcage has always been reasonably thick.

Overall floor presses beat my ass;) . . . thats what I need.

I may try these on Tuesday. I want to start incorporating things like floor presses and board presses, and JM's too.

Bouncing off the floor on these would be a good way to get a serious injury to your forearm or wrist!

First time i did these at my gym (ymca), one of the Y "fitness trainers" that works at the desk came up to me about mid way through "You know, both benches are free now?"

I got the same response from the owner of my gym the first time we did them.

He said, 'Hey man, you know we have benches, right?' I said, 'Yes, I know, but we're doing floor presses.' He said, 'Oh okay. I just feel bad for you because you're lying down in the dirt.'

:)

Yes, but he was the one lying in the proverbial dirt of ignorance, lol.

I hit 405 for 3 on floor press last night. My best before that was 425 so I think I am up a few pounds. I find them very difficult b/c I touch my arms to the floor and pause on each rep but try to stay tight. it wears me the hell out
