Floor and pin presses without a power rack

You can get a person to hand you the bar with the floor press... but when it gets heavier above 3 plates, you will need 2... because if that guy trips.....

What are good ways to set up for a floor press without a power rack? The examples I've seen all just have the bar racked in jhooks set low in the fron of the power rack.

Also, how could I simulate pin presses without a power rack? Are board presses a good enough replacement for rack lockouts (even though they're a little different)?

Thanks.

Thnks.

actually since discovering boards, most people, including the wsb guys, prefer boards over rack lockouts. with the board you fell the bar on your chest, with rack lockouts, you only feel the weight in your hands when its resting on the pins.

Backlash what are you working with exactly? Squat rack? I have rigged a lot of stuff on days I train at a commercial gym. Let us know exactly what equipment you have to work with...

pin presses are kinda wierd...hard to bring the bar down absolutely straight, so inevitably one side will hit a pin before the other which screws up your cadence....plus I like feeling the bar on my chest like Ex said....so I went out and made some boards. Haven't used them yet though....lol. but i have a feeling I will like them better. plus, with the pins, your adjustablity is limited....you have more options with the boards

floor press - i'm sure you could rig something pretty easily

Yeah, I do have squat racks at my gym. They're the kind with the little safety bars that come out the front about 2.5 feet or so off the floor, if you can visualize that. Kind of hard to describe - I'll try to find a pic on the web.

Ok, it's pretty similar to this one:

I do my floor presses off a squat rack like that one. The one I use has little j hooks on the front so it sets up perfect when i am on the floor.

Like Redeadliftexrevex suggested have two guys lift the bar onto you and take it off when you are done...if nothing else.

For rack lockouts the board press is a fine substitute although it is not the same type of work (i find board presses easier than pin presses) but regardless it will give you the work you need.

Maybe it is time for you to look for a new gym....I mean a gym without a powerrack is like a bar with no alcohol...it just doesn't work
