Flax verses Udo's Oil

I personaly think Fish oil blows both of them away due to the high EPA/DHA content. Thats what I've been using now for a while I've been using Haleth From the Sun brand fish oil comes in liquid form (lemon-lime flavor), and is about $6-7 for 47tsp...will last a little over a week for me since I take 2Tbs of it daily.

Udo's contains the optimal omega 3/6/9 ratio. According to Udo if you only supplement on omega 3 by taking Flax you might create an imbalance in your EFA intake, which might lead to health problems.

Here in The Netherlands a bottle of Udo costs around 25/30 euro for a 500ml bottle.....a ripp off in my opinion. Damn I'm not gonna pay that much for half a litre of oil.

I would stick with the Flax oil and perhaps once every half year stuff Ucle Udo's bank account by buying his oil. (Udo's blend is truelly a high quality product, but overpriced )

If you are eating the shit straight, Udo's tastes much better.

I change from time to time...

fish/flax/UDO's oil/walnut/olive....

You should also give hemp seed oil a try - it tastes very good in my humble opinion - with an EFA profile equivalent (some say superior?) to flax seed oil.

hemp produce may soon be unavailable (thanks to the FDA) :(

the reason for the omega 3 content being lower in udo's oil is due to the impact that omega 3 and 6 fatty acids have on the prostaglandins derived from them. too much of one or the other will result in an imbalance between the series 1 and 2 prostaglandins. many assume that our diet is high enough in omega 6's, so we need a higher content of omega 3's like that found in flax. however, if you're on a strict diet and most of your fat is coming from flax, then you may not be getting enough omega 6's, depending where the rest of the fat comes from other than flax. this is where udo's choice can help. not to mention that udo's oil has some monosaturates in it, which are also very healthy and should not be neglected in your diet. so, as someone already mentioned, the ratio's found in udo's oil are the ratio considered optimal, although, depending on what other types of fat you eat, it may or may not be a better choice than flax oil.

Health From the Sun makes "The Total EFA" and it supposedly fufills your total daily intake of fatty acids.
label reads:

Alpha-linolenic acid ALA -699 mg
Docosohexaenic acid DHA -138 mg
EHA- 216mg
GLA - 288 mg
linoleic acid -620mg
oleic acid- 520 mg

Any good?

ratios in Udo's are specific but I feel this blend would be very effective as well.

The difference is . . .

FLAX: makes me gag.
UDO'S: doesn't.

But fish oil tastes better than either (especially when they flavor it with that synthetic mint shit).

its a good blend of fatty acids, especially since there's epa and dha in it. but i have to tell you, it tastes like shit, much worse than just plain flax oil. but if you can handle the taste then go for it, since it's cheaper than udo's ( i don't think by a whole lot though)

Oh! About the EFA, it is in an oil capsule form. I don't take it straight.

definitely a smart move....i was so mad i wasted $11 on it, cause i tried 1 tblsp and threw the rest out. the taste was so god awful.

"Good" flax seed oil should have a nutty taste

if it tastes like shit or has a fishy taste it got rancid => throw it away, it lost its good/healthy properties

BTW, keep any EFA in the fridge
