Did you take advantage of the no sales tax on hurricane items last week? I need to pick up more canned goods, but I'm pretty much set for this season.

You must spread some K around before giving it to redguru again. . .kind of chilly here in NC PA today. . .I'm wearing a friggin hoodie.

Leaving for the beach for two weeks next Saturday, though. . .Avon, NC. . .can't wait.

Cool, Did you hear they project a hurricane in the North East this year? It's been almost 35 years since Agnes. I remember evacuating to Stevens Elementary school because the Susquehanna and Lycoming Creek were gonna bust out of the banks. Dad couldn't get home from work, he was working at the Jersey Shore Steel mill then, near Avis. He wound up having to drive up Pine Creek to 973 and go across. Almost didn't make it because Pine Creek was already out of it's banks.

We got left overs from one last year that caused some pretty good (er. . .bad) flooding around here.

I was only 8 but, I remember Agnes well. We lived at the beginning of the slope in J-Town and the water made it to the house two doors down the street from ours. . .there were cows wandering around in our backyard. . .it was freaky.

I was 6, I lived near Way's Garden in WIlliamsport. I remember the fire department driving down Vine with megaphones telling everyone to pull out. My mom called a cab and put my little brother, sis and I in it and headed up the hill.

Everyone rushed out and bought generators this year, apparently last year taught them a lesson.

Weird thing is that I have a whole house generator (16,000) that runs off propane and my neighbors were going to get one as well this year but the city has now decided they won't approve or allow those kinds in our community anymore. I am so glad I got mine 2 years ago. I saved money ($6000 total) compared to what they were going to be charged this year (14,000).

Lowe's is selling gasoline whole house generators over here, but they're above ground. Seems like debris could take it out. Have to build a cinderblock shelter for it, I guess.
