Hey guys, whats a good starting point for me to find some good BJJ instructors in North Eastern NJ . I would be a total beginner.

ahhh i hate to sound bias but i really think you should check out www.kokushi.com
the school is located in westwood nj
it is a judo school but they do just as much ground work as standing.. and they have a good group of guys that are there just for jujitsu stuff

the instructor is unreal sensei ogasawar currently has 2 olympic athletes training with him and a good amount of very helpful black belts that will offer you a ton of one on one instruction.

also if you pay 78 a month you can go to his judo/jujitsu and karate classes as much as you want.. he has 4 judo classes a week 2 jujitsu and 2 karate classes

judo and bjj are very similar just judo focuses more on standing then bjj and bjj focuses more on ground work then most judo places.. the techniques are in both arts as original ju jitsu is what both arts are based off of

i really believe that the instructor and the students in the class is more important, especially for a beginner then choosing one style over a nother..

there are a lot of jujitsu guys training with ogasaware because they know he will make them great and that his class is great..there are some really super players at his club right now and i think you should take advantage of that.

i used to train there btw so i know first hand that he is top notch and the same can be said for his students/co-instructors..

dont rob yourself by not checking it out.

but regardless check out a few schools and see what you think is best for you.

good luck!

I also believe that checking out a school and its Instructor are Important , wich is why I reccomended David Adiv . Hes on the Royler Gracie Fight Team , hes also the ONLY 2nd Degree BJJ BB in the state .

And hes NOT one of those "BJJ IS INVINCIBLE !!!" types , to boot . He also has a good size class with good seniors to help you out with the basics .

wow that school looks awesome. did you train there or know someone who does?

Umm , I dont want to be too presumptuous , because I didnt post a Weblink , just an Email Adress , so was that adressed to me ?

And if so , what is it that you were looking at , if its cool to ask ?

i googled him up and looked at his web pages and then just other pages talking about him..

i was wondering that the post looked too sarcastic but honestly i meant that comment 100% and would suggest someone look at that school..

but again i would also check out www.kokushi.com as well.. you never know how different people will feel about different schools and the students and how things are run.

good luck

Man , that actually looks like a good place for my Wife to take some lessons , but its too far from us . You know of any decent places in the Vacinity of Allentown , Pa (like Phillipsburgh NJ) ?

I actually Train in NYC all the time , you would be a fun guy to meet up with , if I can take the tone of your Posts as any kind of Indicator .
