First post! shrugbar deadlift PR 585 (pic)

And I thought I'd share the love :fro:

It was one ugly rep, but then so am I so it's all good :D

I did 5x5 with 495-535 before hitting the max, then I did 3x5 with 405 in the full squat then some ab work (yeah I need it) I'm keeping it short and sweet and totally focusing on the ''big 6'' for the next 6 months

600's gonna be in the bag before xmas! thnx for reading & train hard...

yes its a trap bar, but 585 with nothing but shorts is still 585lbs........

congrats and welcome to the board,

X

yeah, sorry I should have clarified that! I know the shrugbar dead isn't exactly equal to the oly bar version, but I've got a herniated disc so any kind of straight bar deadlifting is out :(

thanks Exodus, this is the first serious lifting forum I've joined so hopefully I can learn a lot from you bigger guys.

yes u will learn alot here...alot of knowledgable ppl

Welcome brutha!

You are an inspiration for all back pain sufferers as well as anyone looking to continue the iron work despite limitations.

Rock on brutha!

wow, thanks Hammer - I've been reading the board for a while and your posts are nothing short of inspirational.

for the bros with back pain who cant squat or deadlift all I can say is dont let it get you down because your body can bounce back from almost anything given enough time. I spent most of my 20's unable to do anything more physical than a brisk walk and got REALLY fat & sloppy, but in the last year I've finally healed up and am even stronger than I was pre injury.

I know a guy with THREE disc herniations who squats 365 for 20 so I'm not a fluke, just ignore everything your doctor says (lol), throw away the lifting belt and take it really slow :) It can be done!

excellent job bro... !!

Lifting in shorts and no shoes... hardcore bro.

Nice lift bro! Thats no joke. Have you ever tried hack lifts ( a deadlift with the bar behind the legs, instead of in front)? I get 585 off the floor with that movement. Havent tried the trap bar though. Nice!

WOW! Nice lift for a guy with a herniated disc!
Keep it up!
More knowledgable people hanging around is always welcome!
Thanks
Ryan

nice pull

i would be scared shit to pull trap bar deads with no shoes on lol

Big time weight, bro, welcome to the boards. These guys will sure keep you motivated for sure, & humiliated when you need it.

Lift heavy or go home!

Thanks guys! WalkingBeast, I'm gonna give the hack a try next leg day if it's got that kind of poundage potential (100+ on the vanilla dead has gotta be good) You got any tips on performing it please pm them me, I'd appreciate it.

The best thing about home gyms has to be the dress code! And no polo-shirt wearing dorks giving you shit for slopping chalk around or dropping the weights is also very cool.

Now I hit 6 plates for the dead my next goal is 495 for the power squat, so hopefully I can get a pic of that in the not so distant future :)

Good job on the lift.

I hate the trap bar though...but whatever it takes to get you back to squatting and deadlifting. I admire your attitude.
