FireFox is the ULTIMATE EF browsing tool...

Proof of that is this picture from my Puter this morning... 64 threads open and not a single hitch in my system...

Try to open 64 IE windows... (not the same, we are talking instances here, but the end-result is the same)

Oh yep, it doesn't come cheap... it was taking about 200 Mb RAM...

Anywhoo...

agreed... you can keep the threads open and just cycle tru them and refresh. also, IE used to bomb every once in a while when a new window was launched like an attachment. not firefox. pix load alittle slower but not a problem.

65 threads open at the same time?

Whore.

:lmao:

hell yeah, it rocks for looking at porn too.

cant beat it.

page rendering is off a bit sometimes though.

Later on during the day I finally managed to make it crashed... at 105 tabs... suspect a memory leak from another app though as I was running a lot shit at the moment (couple of aplets, SAP GUI and so forth)... so we'll never know...

firefox is nice and fast and everything. but for some reason im still hooked on IE.

I dont like change. ya know?

If you really want it to cook...

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0”. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!

is this for IE or firefox?

i wanna know how to make IE faster. theres gotta be someway. Theres no way that microsofts product is the inferior of the 2

Firefox is nice. My only complaints :

You can't run activeX - have to use IE whenever activeX is needed.

The scroll speed. When you click the mouse wheel and scroll that way it's quite a bit slower than IE.

Also I've noticed that clicking through links, nothing happens in the new window (no page load, no attempting to connect, nothing) alot more often than IE.

Overall, I'm very pleased though.

Have to try it yet. Just read it... There was a registry hack that did the same for IE also. If it works it is worth it!!! It will make pages load MUCH faster.

Will implement it in a while and will give my impresion.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT DUDE!!! I just dis this... FireFox on Gear... Now we're talking EF Firefox...

Can only recommend you all do this... NOW... DO IT...

And show some love for the guy

Can only wait until I find the sweet spot for that integer (30)... what would be the point of diminishing returns???

Pintoca

FInal Update... I set the imaxrequest number to 100... it works fine... I did notice the memory usage for the process go up. I am now using about double RAM as before..., but if its stable is staying this way...

I think that's because IE doesn't comply with all the web-standards so people end up coding their websites to work for IE and leave out the other browsers (which interpret the code 'correctly').

i only have 128 ram, would you still recommend me doing it?

i do it and its fast

ok been doing it for like an hour and its faster and i have 258 or whatever memory rams

That is the wrong argument... You should say "Hell Hammy, with more memory you can make more room for K"... then the rodent will get at least a cool Gb RAM. :p

For all of you lost in the the dark era...

the information you seek is here:

==========================================
Change the Number of Simultaneous HTTP Sessions (All Windows)

Windows normally limits the number of simultaneous connections made to a single web server. This behavior can be seen in Internet Explorer when downloading multiple files from a web site and only a certain number will be active at any one time.

Windows will limit connections to a single HTTP 1.0 server to four simultaneous connections. Connections to a single HTTP 1.1 server will be limited to two simultaneous connections. The HTTP 1.1 specification (RFC2068) mandates the two connection limit while the four connection limit for HTTP 1.0 is a self-imposed restriction which coincides with the standard used by a number of popular Web browsers.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create two new values, or modify the existing values, called 'MaxConnectionsPerServer' and 'MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server'. Change the values to equal the number of simultaneous requests allowed to a single HTTP server, the default values are 2 and 4 respectively.

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

Note: By changing these settings you are causing Windows to break the HTTP protocol specification for any Internet applications running on your machine.

Note: This affects all Windows Internet applications that use the standard API, including Internet Explorer.
