Finasteride help with acne,etc while on test?

Anyone notice if finasteride helps with acne and things like oilyness / body hair growth while on test?

Anyone use it for this reason?

Bro i can't say by experience that it helps prevent acne, but as far as i know finasteride helps to regrow hair only and some use it to prevent hair loss while on Test.

But i am sure some of the Vet's in here will clarify this issue.

i was wondering this exact same thing !! because i only break out on DHT based gear and on test.. i was thinking it was from the test converting to DHT causing my acne, and that if i used something to stop the conversion (finasteride right ? ) that maybe i could use test again

i'm pretty sure it has something to do with dht.

A while back DrJMW suggested 5mg finasteride to go along with test cycles to eliminate dht related sides (hair loss, body hair, acne, yada yada) and protect your prostate, etc.

I've heard that 1mg ed is enough to totally block the ar enzyme that causes the conversion and that extra finasteride "just to be safe" is a waste... not sure how true this is but it makes some sense.

If all goes well with the finasteride and it subsides this acne thats flaring up I think I may just stick with test only cycles and finasteride in the future.

The instructions that come with finasteride say that taking more than 1mg won't have any additional effect. 5mg is enough for some serious prostate shrinkage.

Finasteride will help but it will not eliminate test sides completely though it may help out some. Acne can also be caused by a fluctuation in hormones so when you come off you will probably get acne anyway. Finasteride is cheap though and it couldnt hurt.

that's what i was afraid of, test only breaks me out AFTER a cycle, thats why i dont useit anymore.

maybe someone knows something else to prevent acne cuz that shit does suck and the acne i get from test sticks around for a month or two after cycle...maybe someone knows how to prevent that huge breakout after cycle. maybe accutane but i think id rather have acne than use that shit.

well if you can obtain it... 10mg of accutane EOD works fucking wonders with practically NO sides (maybe a SLIGHT case of dry lips)

I'm sure you're aware of sides from accutane and thats what really scares most people, but that is with dosing like 40-80mg ED (some people even do more).

I've read a couple other bros that swear by a SMALL dosage like 10mg EOD during PCT or whenever they're prone to breaking out. I've done it and I can say that it DEFINITELY worked for me...

I was starting to break out towards the end of my test cycle and get pretty oily, so I started this and went through PCT. I was on track to get LOTS of shit on my shoulders and back but this 10mg EOD kept it to like maybe 1 or 2 every couple weeks and everything else existing dried up and dissapeared very fast. It started working noticeably about a week after I started.

So if you guys have an acne problem when on certain gear or during PCT if you've got (or can get) some accutane... try 10mg EOD and let us know how it goes!

In theory it actually should help with acne. I used it before when I used to have acne and I think it may have helped a little, but definitely not a cure. There is a substance called azelaic acid, which inhibits dht topically, that has been shown to be an effective treatment of acne and hair loss. With that said, it would seem that finasteride would help by doing the same thing internally. The difference is that azelaic acid is a strong inhibitor of 5ar, while finasteride isn't as strong. I wonder if anyone using dutasteride has any problems with acne?

i can vouch for the greatness of accutane, i had post cycle acne that lasted a year and it was bad, accutane cleaned me up, i have 40mg pills left, and i will start them at one EOD during my pct just to be safe, even though i'm not using test anymore.

I admit that accutane works, but I've had too many nasty and permanent sides to ever do it again. I've got my acne under control naturally, and with the help of lasers anyway.

Propecia is not a good idea if you are wanting to keep strength. It blocks around 80% of DHT in the body and DHT is responsible for strength (yes test does convert to DHT). Not worth it to me.

accutane sides that i noticed at about 60-80mg ED were chapped lips and i felt sort of depressed... like really emotional and on the edge.

at 10 to 20mg eod i had SLIGHTLY chapped lips and no "mental" problems from the accutane.

I can say for sure at high doses like 60-80mg ED it did screw with my head... then i stopped and everything went back to normal

My accutane sides were thus: mild hair loss, chapped lips and skin, permanent vision impairment in my right eye, constant burning in both eyes, and mild depression. I ran it 3 times under a Dr.'s supervision.

Im glad someone brought up this topic...

I started on finasteride on Oct 3rd for thinning hair...my back and shoulders were already broken out from my gear use, but after three weeks on the finasteride, I noticed my zits dissapearing quickly and wondered if possibly the DHT reductions on my scalp was also reducing the DHT on my skin and clearing me up in a way Id never considered. Id done the accutane thing a couple years back and it worked well with a bunch of manageable sides, but Im excited that the finasteride may actually reduce or ihibit the outbreak of zits from DHT!!Im figuring I'll still break out from other sources(hormones/sweat) but the DHT caused outbreaks were the most stubborn for me- so Im totally psyched that It looks like Im getting help now for hair and skin from one source..
