Lots of people told me I needed to watch Serpico because of my hubby. Good movie. I kinda felt bad for the guy.
I did notice some similiar things but I don't think my hubby would have snitched on the other cops. He prolly would have just called them dumb fcuks and had his ass kicked on the spot. :worried:
But the part at the start of the movie with the young kid rape suspect... TOTALLY HIM. The attitude- totally him. The being disliked by the other cops... TOTALLY him.
Good movie. Thanx for the suggestion.

impossible to relate your hubby's situation to this, different time and a different place - the city cops were 1% over the line from the criminals. Most would go either way when making the decision.

Snitches didn't last long in that era, so that movie seems a bit outdated looking thru a contemporary prism.

you should visit my area, it will put it in perspective - lots of small cafe's private clubs where it all use to go down.

but back then you wouldn't make it home, today they just fuck you over.

True, for the most part. It still isn't always safe.
It was just worse then because of the mob influence. Now it's mostly smaller grouped drug dealers and so on.

YW....

"Nowhere in Boston has Father Time wrought such ruthless changes, as in this highly respectable quarter, now swarming with Italians in every dirty nook and corner. In truth, it is hard to believe the evidence of our own senses, though the fumes of garlic are sufficiently convincing. Past and Present confront each other here with a stare of blank amazement, in the humble Revere homestead, on one side, and the pretentious Hotel Italy on the other; nor do those among us, who [know] something of its vanished prestige, feel at all home in a place where our own mother-tongue no longer serves us."

italians pwned

It was sureal bro, but more fun than one can imagine. Everyone was so damn close - today we call it Yuppified - costs have run the old people out of town.

mulberry street is for tourists these days. little italy has been reduced to like 4 blocks. the only thing good on mulberry is umbertos clam house :)

As close as West Virginian red necks? That's some close culture, just ask digimon.
