holy shit am i sore and in love with this workout.. i felt like i did when i was a young lad losing my virginity..

your first? oh man, haven't done them in over 2 months cause of a little back injury and I am missing them big time. my favorite lift by far.

What's a deadlift?

Is that where you take viagra to help your impotent pecker or something?

Deadlifts quite simply put; FUCKING ROCK.

^ Hell yes they do!

Hands down my favorite

i get to do deads tonight!

now just wait till your erectors start shaping and you get the nice xmas tree in your lower back

would fitting deadlifts in twice a week be too much?

I personally think so. there's not much need IMO, but of course everyone is different. any particular reason why you would want to do this.

ps - you can do stiff leg DL on leg day and regular DL on back day.

i havent done them in months. the bars at my gym have so much grip that i bleed really bad on my shins and knees. i had to stop cuz it would never heal and i have some bad scar tissue right above the knee now.
to compensate i train quads twice a week now.

No your thinking of cock pushups.

2X a week would be a no-no for most. Some people don't even like them unless it's every other week

Scarred shins are a sign of respect amongst powerlifters. Wear them with pride.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Beachbum you aren't compensating for shit by training quads twice a week. You need to train hamstrings and erectors to even attempt to compensate for not doing deads. Deads are not a quad movement.

It might help to wear long pants and work on your form (consider using less weight) and...for the love of all things mass building...what do deadlifts have to do with training your quads?

i'm not doing deadlifts for PL'ing nor am i training quads twice a weeks to get better at DLs.
my hams and glutes are rediculously awesome already and if anything i NEED my quads to catch up. plus my back is pretty good.
i just mentioned that i'm training quads twice a week now becuase without DL my legs would only get worked once a week but now i added another day specialcally for my quads to catch up with my hams/glutes.

btw, i can perfect form DL 495.

lol, if you could see my sweat pants you would understand. i have made the biggest damn holes in them from DL'ing. i wear them everytime i DL even during the summer becuase the bars are so bad. these arent your typical bars, it's like they have sand paper crossed with glass on those damn things. worst bars i have ever seen.

hater.
i take my training seriously but i take how i look as a result even more serious. so if walking around with two melons for an ass and have shitty quads, i'm sure as hell gonna fix that.
i'll say i can DL 225 to make you all happy. i dont care and i'm sure my real weight owned some of you wannabe PL'er, so whatever.

what is the diff between stiff leg dead lifts and regular.. thanks in advance..

I'd make fun of SLDL's here, but I've seen too many big guys in PL comp's take first place by almost SLing 600+.

Ouch.

I'd really suggest sumos. Both sumo squats and deads fit my body/frame perfectly and allowed me to make great progress with both lifts.

stiff leg DLs hit the legs more (hammy's). just like it sounds - you keep your legs stiff during the movement. a lot of people do SLDL on leg day and regular DL on back day. I personally like SLGMs better.

Like Arnold-style? I always hated those.

Nothing beats chain-suspended GMs with three plates, cinched greens, 80lbs of chain from parallel.

and i wondered why my back always hurt

:cow:

ok i found a site that shows teh difference i do stiff legs.. question is if i do stiff legs will it still work my back.. because my back lower/mid is sore as fuck so it has to have worked.. hammys are sore as shit too..

Phaded said:
anyone can find a site that shows the difference..

The hands-down best powerlifting videos I have ever found were from www.growordie.com. I think he might have posted here, but I'm not too sure. We used to have BigWh1ty and other top-level guys in the PL forum here, but they've long since left.

If you wanna see powerlifting, watch the vids on that site. It's changed a lot over the years though... dunno if they archived all their videos or not.

I don't think this answers your question, but I just wanted to plug the best PL site I've ever known.

Eh, lol.

Use the link I gave you if you want to see how a real deadlift is performed. You'll have to go to the competition videos, though. They don't use DL's in their WO routines. GM's and the many variations are far superior. Pin pulls will up your numbers... DLing once a week will not.

:cow:

bro - it was in a pinch - lol. I didn't even check the link out - all I saw was some dood with no sleeves DLing 20 lb DB's. LMAO

Well read your first post again and you can easily see how it came off.

I don't deadlift. I compensate by working quads twice per week.

nothing in there about anything else

Wow, that's a good number.

You're 20 years old, 205lbs, D 495.

Cut down to 198lbs, and you can take several state's DL records in the junior division.

for real??!
damn, i see football player here DL in the 600's. saw a senior in HS (18yr old) that is coming here next year DL 585 @ 190lbs.
i guess there isnt much PL'er competitions. what i mean there isnt alot of people that go to them compared to the potential of some.
we had a PL comp here and a guy DL'ed 700lbs. he hold national records though, so it wasnt some random student lifting.

Dude......buy your own bar, a deadlift bar to be exact, or suffer thrashed shins. :)
