Don't forget that Bush had a cozy relationship with Pakistan. We need Pakistan as an ally and we have to make some moral and financial sacrifices if we're going to make that happen. It's sort of like having Russia as an ally in WWII. There was no love for Stalin but at the same time we needed their army to defeat Germany.

But the Soviet union in WWII didn't have nukes. Stalin may have been a paranoid megalomaniac but he understood the consequences of a nuclear holocaust on his power base. The Islamo-Fascists believe they can bring God's plan to fruition by using nuclear weapons, it's their goal. The Taliban has been the attempt by Pakistan to colonize Afghanistan, it was their creation. They wanted to use an Afghan satellite as leverage against India, our close allies and the first victims of fundamental Islam.
