Fiber!!!

just was curious as to how many people take fiber out there?

what kind and how much of it?

and whats its impact on the human body for body building/dieting?
 
you should take in between 20 to 30 g of fiber per day (whether bulking, cutting or whatever).

Eat lsots of veggies, grains (like oatmeal, oat brean, brown rice, etc..) and nuts to get your daily fiber intake.

If you want to supplement fiber, try psyllium husk.
 
I take psyllium husk in my protein shakes to thicken them up a bit. With what I eat, I'd say that I get around 40-60g on a normal day.

Fiber is a great tool for dieting. Fiber has a high thermic effect because your body cannot absorb any energy from it. Basically, you burn calories eating the stuff. It may not be much, but for someone trying to cut, it gives them another advantage.

Also, soluble fiber will slow the digestion rate of food in your stomach, which in turn will lower the rate at which sugar is released and absorbed in the blood. This means that it will decrease the Glycemic index of that meal, which is a big thing nowadays in the fat loss & bodybuilding community. Insoluble fiber helps with moving bulk through the intestines.

Fiber has other benefits too, but those are some of the more relevant ones.
 
I get my fiber in the foods I eat.....I use tracking software on a web site (fitday.com) to keep track & make sure I eat the fiber I need.....
 
fiber is a god send, without it I bloat and have horrible protien farts, I take a ton of fiber not sure the grams but I take about 10tabs a day and then a scoop in my shakes. works great
 
i just bought me some psyllium husk fiber.

i tried drinking it straight in water and almost barfed. tastes like a goey cup o snot lol

threw it in my shake. tastes fine now. Thanks.

i got me a 12 oz container of it made by Yerba Prima for $7.00. anyone get it better than that? and where?

also. is it ok to put it in my shake then blend it? wasnt sure if breaking it down mechanically might change its effects?

I use psyllium husk fiber powder from source naturals. Got it from vitacost.com for $4.31 (USD) for 12oz.

It shouldn't be a problem to put it in before blending it, its gonna get broken down in your body soon enough, right? ;)
 
I also use flaxseed meal added to cereal, protein shakes, etc

1 svg = 2 tblsp which = 4g fiber
 
psyllium seeds are better then Husks
Grounded up flax seeds
Wheat Brand sprinkled on food
Green veggies
Triphala - indian herb that strengths intestinal track
