Could you be extremely explicit about what symptoms you are experiencing, when exactly you notice they start and for exactly how long do they last? When did the problem start? Did anything change in your life at the time the symptoms started? Does it happen after every workout, including straight up cardio?

Hi there thanks for the response it started approx 2 years ago but I have persisted through it. The only thing that really changed was I used to take AAS but decided I was going to give them up due to getting married and just wanting to not take them any longer.
I completed full pct clomid nolvadex hcg and in my blood work my test levels have come back in the normal range also I have not suffered any loss in labido ect.
After working out the next 24 - 48 hours are hell I find it hard to concerntrate flu symptoms are not really accurate the only way I can desribe it is as though I have been poisoned or my body is full of toxins my eyes are usually sore and i feel itchy its just a god awful feeling and thast the best I can put it into words.
The only other thing I do is I like a few drinks at the weekend and go out most weekends and drink with friends / family but I feel fine the day after I just dont know what this could be so thought I would see if I can get a response on here.

Thanks

Okay, is this correct: Within 12 hours after exercise your eyes are sore and your skin is itchy.

Is the skin all over your body itchy, or just in certain places?

Are you breaking out in a rash in addition to the itchiness?

Are your eyes swollen or red in addition to the soreness?

You keep saying toxic. Do you mean you also feel nauseaous and headachy, as if you're hungover?

Please, answer exactly what I'm asking, I've actually got a few ideas here.

Hi there,
Yes approx 12 hours after so if i train it will hit me the next day when I wake up.
No I do not break out in any rash
My eyes are not swollen but red around the eye lids
And yes I described the feeling to my doctor as feeling similar to a hangover
As for the itchy feeling I guess its normally around the area I ahve worked out so for example if I train my chest my chest will itch and so forth.
I had been training for 10 years before this happened and I just want it to stop making me so miserable and unhappy I even stopped training all together last year for approx 6 months but I dont ever want to stop training
The doctor just does not know what it is he did say I had I high CPK ( Creatine phosphokinase) but said that was normal due to the bodybuilding.
Thank you so much btw!

Oh forgot to mention I have been on a high protein low fat low carb diet for like forever and decided last week to change the diet and up my carbs and good fats just thought I would mention it incase it may help.

Without knowing whether it's CPK-1, CPK-2 or CPK-3 that's kind of useless information.

Anyway, try Benadryl next time, take it according to package instructions starting the day you intend to exercise, before you exercise. Take it for a full day. See if it helps. If not, well, we know what it isn't. There is such a thing as exercise induced allergy, it's damned rare but its the easiest thing to eliminate (hence, the Benadryl).

What's weird is the time lag, the 12 hour thing. If it was exercise allergy it would kick in almost immediately, not 12 hours later, same with a contact dermatitis or other environmental allergic reaction but it still doesn't hurt to try. Same thing goes for exercise induced migraine (that might affect the eyes/vision but not the itchy thing). You could have two things combined (i.e., migraine and allergic reaction), but it would be almost impossible to have the same symptoms occur, simultaneously, under the same circumstances again and again if that were the case.

The more ominous thing that comes immediately to mind is called myopathy, particularly dermatomyositis (except that normally is accompanied by a rash).

If the Benadryl doesn't help, then I really think you need a referral to a neurologist. Ask them if they would like you to exercise the day before your scheduled appointment.

I wish you well, General-K. Hopefully, with all the information on this thread, someone else will have some additional/better ideas.

Musclemom,

I will indeed try the medicine you mention and will post how I get on with that I also have booked a appointment to have my blood tested for lactic acid levels and will post my findings.
In the meantime thank you V much for your advice and replies.

Also in regards to the cpk the doc did say there were 3 kinds Heart/Brain/Skeletal Muscle and he stated it was the skeletal muscle one.

Hi I have already read through this but no where does anyone really state any findings I have tried the probiotics but did not make any change to my status :(

Well, the other thing, what you feel isn't flu-like. Nobody on that forum mentioned itching.

One thing I did want to mention. When you do go back to the doctor, I'd like you to change the way you describe your symptoms. You need to be very specific (there's a reason for this, doctors are trained to "interpret" what patients say -- as opposed to listen, big difference. If you use certain words/phrases when you're in their office they will get hung up on a certain phrase and, while they still may eventually reach the same conclusion, it may take them twice as long to find an answer).

When you describe your symptoms, start from the top and work down, saying exactly what your symptoms are, avoid being metaphorical in your description and using phrases like "I feel like I've been poisoned" or "I feel like I'm toxic." Basically, say it more like this:

I have a throbbing/aching/sharp headache in the ____ forehead/temples/top/back part of my head. It starts _____ and lasts for an average of _____.

My eyes feel sore and will be itchy. The eyelids will be red.

I will have itching of the skin of the part of the body that I worked out. There is no rash. The itching starts ____ after working out and lasts _____.

I may be lightheaded. I may have some nausea. I will have joint and muscle aches and pains. Etc.

When you're dealing with very amorphous symptoms like what you have, you need to really drill down the details.

Ok thought I would post this I had some more blood work done yesterday including lactic acid

All the results came back normal apart from my white blood cell count was slightly low and my doctor now wants to take the white blood cell count again in 2 weeks time  sigh!

Hi there im not sure what a HMO is somekind of healthcare im assuming im from the UK so things are a little different here still wondering what on earth this could be and now am thinking of giving myself a rest from training for 2 weeks and not drinking any alcohol to see if it helps at all.

UK ... ahhhh. Okay, I'm in the US. HMO is a type of insurance company, don't worry about it. It's sort of like universal medicine but HMOs are even stupider.

Alright, you might have a neuromuscular disorder. You need to see a neurologist to rule that out. I don't know any other way to express that information to you and I don't know how you can convey that information to the doctor you're seeing and actually be taken seriously. You're going to have to stay the course. Which means, whatever you do, don't change your lifestyle, all that's going to do is screw up things and reflect "false positives." Keep working out. Have your weekend drink. If you have continued suppressed WBC function the doctor will twig something as being wrong eventually. You'll end up in a neurologist's office eventually.

You could try asking for a neurology referral outright, as in, saying to the doctor "Is there any chance this could be something neurologically related?" I don't know how open to suggestions UK doctors are.

Ok just for an update I was getting paranoid and today went and had a HIV / Hep test and am very pleased to say they were all negative so that rules all that out :) phew
