Guys it's been a while since we last asked the question what's in your walkman, minidisc, cd players when you work out? So I thought I'd start it up again

For me it's the Evenescence album..
curious to know what you guys listen to while pumping iron

Hardcore trance/techno, female vocals, progressive trance,, european electronica etc

I usually make Rap mix CDs for my workouts.
Heres whats on one of them

Pharoahe Monch - Agent Orange
Cannibal Ox - Iron Galaxy
GZA - Liquid Swords
Nas - The Cross
Binary Star - KGB
Tupac - Blasphemy
Talib Kweli - Rush
Wu Tang Clan - The Jump Off
Gangstarr - Full Clip
KRS One, Zach De La Rocha, Last Emporer - Criminals In Action
Methodman and Redman - Da Rockwilder
Mobb Deep - Survival of the Fittest
RZA - B.O.B.B.Y.

other songs too but i forget

Newer songs Ive liked to hear while lifting...
Korn-dont know what its called. From the new Tomb Raider movie.
Shinedown-fly from the inside
Staind-Price to play
Linkin Park-Faint
Black Label Society-Stillborn
Mudvayne-World so cold
Disturbed-Liberate
godsmack-serenity
A.F.I-the leaving song part 2
I dont have my own cd player or anything at the gym,so we usually get stuck listening to things which arent very motivating.

if i ever work out in my garage i listen to Metallica. also punk. i like fast guitar riffs like thrice or rufio or my friends band 'felonstar'\
ill listen to blink and green day too. i love those guys :)

Best music for working out is metal / trance, breakbeat, techno etc.

But sometimes if I feel really pissed off, i break out the DMX and i attempt to murder any bar i pick up.

Coal Chamber - Loco
Coal Chamber - Big Truck
Disturbed - Down with the Sickness
Disturbed - Stupify
Disturbed - Glass Shatters
Godsmack - Whatever
Godsmack - Awake
Godsmack - Alive
Godsmack - Make Me Believe
Hatebreed - I will be Heard
Hatebreed - Smash your Enemies
Machinehead - Kick you when you're down
Mudvayne - Dig
Mudvayne - World so Cold
Noise Therapy - Get Up
Pantera - Domination
Slipknot - Sic
Static-X - Push It
Stone Sour - Get Inside

Just to name a few :D

slipknot - left behind, my plague, everything ends, wait and bleed

tool - sober, aenima

finch - what it is to burn

seether - fuck it

queens of the stone age - go with the flow

some others but its getting late and to tired to remember

The funny thing about metal is that I like lifting to it, but would never listen to it otherwise. Indie rock is what I primarily listen to.

Rob Zombie
Static X
Offspring
Gravity Kills
some Marilyn Manson (most of his stuff sucks but a couple songs like Astonishing Panorama of the end times ROCK)
Lords of Acid
Stabbing Westward
SoaD
Crystal Method
etc etc

All depends on the mood, I guess.

nice mix...i like it..gave me couple new ideas...i like dmx also to workout to, method man...lot of others....i could listen to hard rock workin out sometimes but thats the only time really.. i can't listen to the stuff that all they do is yell. I'm gonna do enuff of that during my liftin.lol

I don't like metal (well, I did like some of the 'hair band' stuff in the 80s!). Nothing against it, just doesn't suit my tastes.

How do you wear headphones when working out? maybe I have the wrong headphones. Plus, it just doesn't work if the cd/tape player is on your waist and your have to do bending moves (squats, dls, pull-throughs, rows).

I work out at a commercial gym, so I listen to whatever they play.

My two all time fav. lifting songs would have to be:

1) Dry Kill Logic: "Rot"

&

2) Sevendust: "Black"

(Can't go wrong with the Rocky Soundtrack either!)

I know this sounds corny, but i like to listen to queen when they did the music for the movie 'Flash Gordon'. Those are awesome to listen to while lifting.

You mention trance....any examples please?

I'm the same only listen to metal (if that includes evanaessence?) when I work out

great hip hop compilation..any more?

I like for my gym to play, "I am a real American" (hulk Hogan's old theme) whenever I arrive.

I come in and do a Hoganesque pose down, and work the crowd.

It pumps me up.

:D

makedah - I got an mp3 player to use when working out. My gym plays really shitty music, and having my own music made my workouts much more fun and much more effective, interestingly.

Anyways, the mp3 player is smaller and more lightweight than cd players, and you don't incur any time or expense of burning cds. I got the Creative muvo, 64 meg version. It holds about an hour of music, which is perfect for working out. I got it for $80 online. It weighs like 3 ounces.

I listen to a random crazy mix of metal, rap, and punk covers of old songs (for the most part). Anything fast with a good beat, other than techno that is mind-numbing.

mp3 is the way to go.

Ive got a nike rio sport 64meg. Pretty much the same as Backlashes. It has an armband so it doesnt get into your way. The headphones actually insert into the ear so they dont fall out. Ive seen some that have a wire that wrap around the ear also to hold them on.

My gym plays CNN on the tv, I mainly listen to metal for workouts just for the mental pump.

At the gym where I currently train. They have music for all the other parts of the gym except for the room with the powerack. There is a speaker there. It just doesn't work (don't know why). So, I get to listen to whatever they use in aerobic workouts (the aerobics room is next to the room with the powerack). However, if allowed, I would like to train to some Henry Rollins.

Depends on my mood, but rap is always a good choice because it carries that mood with it that can give one an attitude (with the heavy rolling bass beats and such) and make you feel high and mighty. Always good to have something that will help confidence. Xzibit's song "Spit Shine" gets me pumped due to the lyrics and such.

Other than rap though, I'm a big fan of techno/rave/trance shit, and alot of hardcore shit. Slipknot (Surfacing, Spit It Out), Disturbed (Conflict, Violence Fetish), Coal Chamber, Atreyu (A Vampire's Laments), Mudvayne (Dig is a personal favorite), Lollipop Lust Kill (Like A Disease)...

Much more, can't think now, brain dying...
