I've enjoyed Vin Diesel's performances in past movies, but I saw him on the Tonight Show and he's not as dynamic in real life as his role's would lead you to believe. Very soft spoken and almost introverted. Actually after seeing him on there tonight, I think he's gay.

He also said he grew up in Greenwich Village and got involved in theatre at a young age, for whatever that's worth.
 
I just got back, and I thought it was pretty good.

The hondas, and 4 cylinders suck, but the supra's and RX-7's will give any amrican car a run for the money.

The best cars in the movie were, Vin Disiels RX-7, the orange supra, and that bad ass dodge charger at the end.
 
The tonight show interview was ok, I def got the idea that he was the introvert type after he talked with Leno. I'm going to see the movie after I get off work this afternoon...
 
i liked the movie , i hate honda's however, and that jetta made me want to throw up. Rice Boy's piss me off, they think there king shit, wow your car has 110hp and 70lb of tourque.. i'll race any honda, anyday in my goo dold ford thunderbird
 
I thought the movie was real entertaining. I am not a fan of rice rockets but the Supra and Rx7 kicked ass and I am sure they were close to $100,000 if not more.

Another good thing was the length of the movie was perfect they didnt drag the shit out. Some parts were cheezy but what do you expect. This was one of the biggest turn outs I have seen for an opening in a long time.

Unviversal Studios City walk had a large display of Rice burners in front of the movies. And every punk and his brother were there.

I've seen several interviews with Vin (I think vincent is his real name, and then he added the desiel to sound studly) - and I agree that he comes across totally different in those than he does in his roles and he deffinitely has gay qualities about him - the ones that stood out to me were his intereest in watching and wanting to be in musicals and show tunes.
either way, I don't care if he is gay or not, it is just like so many other people in hollywood that have no bearing on my day to day life.
I did like him in Boiler Room.

im totally down with the import scene,i think it was the greatest movie ever,if i had the coin i'd build me a car like that,im considering doing it to a cheapy right now
 
do not try to pimp out a cheapy that bein like a civic neon or anything cheaper. It looks totally gay and people laugh at you. Although some body kits can help the looks it is funny. Save the money from all the mods and buy a real car that is made for speed looks etc.
or be a pimp and build a kit car. cheap and sweet

As far as Vin being more reserved when he's being himself, that's certainly not unheard of. Look at Harrison Ford. I know there's more, but it's Saturday and I can only retrieve so much info at one time.
 
i thought it was a great movie. i love imports. nothing impresses me about a 5.0 liter engine that puts out 225horse. yey. the honda s2000, is a 4 cilinder and puts out 240 horse, all stock. now thats science.

oh and that supra from the movie is for sale in the Dupont Registery for $80G. 650 horses
 
im goin to see it. i like honda civics....it was my first car. not fast but outhandled most any "american muscle car" i encountered.

im shootin for the big boys now. i want to race a 5.0 soon. but im playing with a bit more fire. 94 eagle talon turbo, all wheel drive. 210 hp stock.....but that is never satisfactory. putting in new intercooler piping today (few minutes actually). next is turbo upgrade, boost controller, and cat back exhaust.

ps..i dusted a raced out civic when i didnt know he was racing me. AND I HAD A BOOST LEAK.

ps...im going to see that movie tonight. vin is cool and the movie should be entertaining.

for good driving sequences check out RONIN. that movie had some good driving in it.

Damn right. You can find a good condition muscle car for 5 grand is you look hard. So it costs a third of what a new civic would cost and blows it the shit away....

Ya those Honda Civics are annoying but there are tons of 10 sec civics that will blow the doors of most cars!!!

Freakmonster, there is a helluva lot less 10 second civic tha n you think. Maybe not at shows, the track, but most of that shit you see on the street is AA battery charged 13 hp crap with a flowmaster of course.

So you've got the choice between a gas guzzling 455 cu engine that goes through tires like clinton goes through women or a new honda s2000 that real men point at and laugh ..... and you choose the honda?
 
I liked the movie....I like all types of fast cars, american, imports, makes no difference to me. I love speed.

Lets think about this for a minute, Sure you can buy a 5 grand bigger muscle car, or you can spend 5 grand on a used rice burner, fix up both, and you can get the same thing...speed...I wonder if your using either car for a daily driver who's going to be filling up for gas first...

Personally I would like to take a Fiero, strip it down, and rebuild it from the ground up. Take a v8 conversion kit and drop a chevy 350 in.


Any other fiero fans here???
 
fieros are cool. handle damn good too. im all for a fast car regardless of who makes it. a car i would have HAS to handle though. my best handling car was my rx-7 or my room mates mr-2. rear wheel drive, well balanced. my new car, the talon, feels a bit heavy when i drive it. but damn good for speed.

ps...my room mate just got a chevy caprice, police package with the LT1 motor. (corvette engine) i call it the rocket couch. its fast as fuck stock. he dropped some flowmasters in it and of course cant leave it as is. im sure many goodies to come. the problem is...people keep slowing down when he pulls up. it has the spotlights on it and the rammer bumper. LOL. its too cool. we drove around with an afro wig on the other day, lookin like starsky and hutch or some other cheesy 70s cop show. :fro:
 
lol bignate - that reminds me of the first year of the Impala reissue - it had the corvette engine and the luxury package that basically looked like the caprice does now if memory serves.
I learned to drive on a 73 chevy impala that was gutted and had roll cage in it and mustang seats with 5 point seat belts. the thing was a fucking magnet for accidents and my dad did that too it and it saved our asses a few times. I don't know how it was cursed, but my dad was in 3 accidents in it, I was in 2 accidents in it, my stepmom 2, and one time a car rolled across an empty parking lot and embedded itself into the parked impala.
but when it was working, damn, you could blow a gallon of gasoline by leaving the stoplight.

as for fieros, I've always thought it felt like my ass was dragging on the ground while driving it. if something is going to be fast and I'm in it, I want to be able to survive if something goes wrong.
my friend has an M roadster and he just spend $10K fixing it recently when he wrecked it going 120 miles an hour into an embankment (this was on Sepulvada in LA and I think at that point the marked speed limit was 25mph).
he and his girlfriend didn't have a scratch, but they spun the car around a bunch of times and fucked up a bunch of stuff.
what sucks is that he makes around a million a year and hte $10K is nothing to him.
he also has a mazda that he got back before he had any money. his next car will be a viper he says.
he looked at rx-7's, and he loved it, but he had his reasons for not getting it.

and someone in one of these rice boy threads mentioned the honda s2000 - that thing sucks ass - if you are going to spend that much money, get a bmw roadster and look cool. the s2000 only has the horsepower that you talk about when you get MUCH higher into the RPMs - so even for around town driving you are going to be in 8000rpms a lot.
whatever - that is retarded. all cars if you drive them into 8000rpms are going to give out some big hp numbers.
 
Thats awesome, I went to highschool with a few guys that fixed up their RX7's and usually tore all the honda's up. I wish I had pics of an old buddy of mines supra. He's spent more money then I ever would have imagined on it.

At the highschool I went too you could find a few 911's, m3's, lot's of Saleen's and z28's, on the weekends you could find a few people driving daddy's ferrari....For some reason the cops were quick to pull those people over. A marketing teacher I had 69 cammaro he bought as a kid. He raced it every so often when we had races near the school.

i like the s2000 interior, but its not a hardtop....i gotta have a hardtop. yeah, the hp really kicks in at the top end so otherwise its kindof dull down low. but its obviously very well designed to get that much hp out of a 4 cylinder thats naturally aspirated. gotta hand it to honda on that one. only other motor that comes close with efficiency is a rotary.
 
my next car is going to be the Saab 9-5 Aero, but if things work out well enough with investments and promotions - I'm tempted to go for the M5. A neighbor on the street I used to live on in his driveway had an M5, a Volvo XC, an Audi S4, and a turbo beetle that was apparently some special color that they didn't make many of.
and on the way into work if I take the back roads, there is occasionally a guy in front of his house washing his Diablo. I suspect he worked at Oracle up the road early on and made mucho dollars via that. or he sells drugs.

Hey Happy what makes you want a Saab Aero? My friend just sold his Saab Viggen, not a bad car, over priced though. Front wheel drive had a bunch of torque steer so it was real sloppy on launch.

I guess it's just a matter of preference. The question for myself is: do I want to drive a muscle car or a sleek redesigned toaster?

The thing about it being a daily driver is true. I try not to worry about it even though while most people think about miles per gallon I think in terms of gallons per mile.

But I like to drive it. While most people hate getting behind the wheel, driving is actually an enjoyable experience for me.

If some other guy likes driving a supped up microwave, then more power to him.

His backwards visor wearing skinny ass just better not cut me off or I'll smash through his rice burner with the god damn steel framed tank I drive.

YOU FORGOT TO MENTION HOW HE GOT INVOLVED IN THAT THEATER......HE AND HIS FRIENDS USED TO GO VANDALIZE IT ALL THE TIME THEN THE LADY CAUGHT THEM AND SAID IF THEY WANTED TO PLAY THERE THEY HAD TO BE THERE AT 4:00 THE NEXT DAY AND SHE PAID THEM 20$. WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO IN THE DECIDING FACTOR WHETHER HE IS GAY OR NOT? LOTS OF ACTORS WERE INVOLVED IN THEATER AT AN EARLY AGE.....WHY DO YOU THINK THEY GOT INTO ACTING?

All I said is that I think he may be gay after seeing him on The Tonight Show. Just a personal opinion. I never said I was going to boycott his films and he should be tarred and feathered. It was just an observation I made, about him being a lof different than the characters he plays. I don't expect Sly to be the greatest boxer in the world after seeing the Rocky movies, or just because Kevin Spacey played a gay man in The Garden of Good and Evil, that he's gay in real life. Oh wait.... bad example on that last one.
 
I just saw the movie. Here's what I thought.

Viin Diesel can play a pretty bad ass character. I was rooting for him the whole way.

The main guy was gay as hell. He sounded like a retarded early 90s Keanu Reeves. Some of his lines just made me laugh and they weren't supposed to be funny.

The chinese bad guy Tran was a funny stereotype to throw into the mix. And his brother of few words.

I have to say, I got sick of hearing the hum of the civics in the first 5 minutes. But I thought the street racing was filmed pretty good. It seemed fast although I'm sure in reality the cars were doing around 40-45.

I thought it was funny how the FBI guy said they'd spent like $6 million on the investigation and hadn't figured anything out. That seemed pretty realistic to me.

The Dodge Charger was awesome. No two ways about it. It rocked.

When I saw Vin Diesel with the car out of the garage and a shotgun I was secretly hoping they were going to the chinese bad guy dojo to shoot up the place. Oh well.

Hey Vin Diesel is a good actor I thought he was awsome in Boiler room ( really good flick) . I have heard that before about him being gay . Thats all it was though what I heard. Even if he was who cares. I don't.

at the end.. where the 2 dirt bikes jumped then that orange pooper.. They went to another frame and u can see 2 ramps behind them.. ruined the fucking movie :(
 
Want a great story? Then don't bother with this film. Want to see lots of action and cars and just have fun? Then go see this flick.

One problem: At least they could have selected some hotter chicks. Hell, the men were prettier than they were.

i agree acura integras are amazing cars,imports last longer and handle better,take the jetta for example,it is made in germany,whats there? the Autobahn,it was made for speed,they come with turbos on them.

And don't get me wrong. A Vette, Trans Am, Camaro Z28 or, the God of all supercars, the Viper would blow the doors off of just about any imported NON-Exotic car on the street. You just gotta shell out 30k + OR MORE to get one.

Guys most of Hollywood is gay---If you are to make it in hollywood as a nobody then it helps to let them think you are gay. A lot of the Film makers are gay and they stick together-----It also doesnt hurt to be Jewish---thats just the way it is! Is Diesel Gay, who knows, who cares----Look how far Tom Cruise got and nobody even knew he was a tink(Except for hollywood)

You poor boys have just not experienced what an American V-8 can do. Mustangs these days in True Street are running 9's and making 1000+ horsepower, with better handling than any import. Leave the family car alone, they are not made for performance, nor are they capable of true performace, the only one is the supra twin turbo, and it needs mods to be fast.

What are your rice rockets running 18 sec qtrs? Ha! My pickup ran 13's before I sold it.

without nitrous no import is comparable to a real V-8ed sports car.


The integre R is a piece of shit. My F150 Lightning could smoke it on motor alone.

The lightning was running a 408 stroker with TFS heads. I would totally smoke any integra. I enjoyed running up and down Westheimer and smoking their sorry asses. I wasted a turbo eclipse as well. It was fast, but i sold it since it was a gas guzzler. It ran 12's on a 200 shot of nitrous. Integra R's are piece of shit cars, really, they are not all the rice boys have made them out to be. Even a v-6 Buick GN could smoke one bone stock (including the truck I had). Also, any 5.0 liter stang 87-93 can run 12's with $1000 in mods, it has been done over and over in MM&FF magazine. Why waste your time and money with a poor performing family car not meant for performance
