I agree but from a different standpoint. I think they suck romantically. There's something to just making the fire yourself and not looking at the same damn logs all the time. Just sets better with me when it's the real thing.

meh, i like the fake fireplace in our house. and it does a good job at making me warm, just takes awhile to kick in.

But its sooo much easier to maintain.

we have wooden floors and it just got too messy with the ashes and sparks fucking it up

so we got a gas one. Its not romantic, but its better than a regular one nonetheless

some are designed for heat some are designed for looks, we have two one is for heat the other for looks. maybe you have one for looks if you want heat.
