Factory refurbished electronics...

There's this dvd player that I really like and it's almost half the price if I buy it refurbished. I'm not really cheap but if I can get it for half the price and nothing's wrong with it why not. Haven't dealt with refurbished goods ever. What's everyone's opinion on electronics that have been refurbished by the factory???

What's up Daeo?:)

I'd buy one in a skinny minute.

I've bought tools factory refurbished. They performed extremely well.

Not much, thanks for asking. :D

Thanks for the input. What kind of tools are you speaking of? I'm not trying to be negative or anything, but for some reason electronics seems like there's alot less room for error. I want to buy it really bad, but I just can't get over the "it's not brand new thing". More psychological than anything...

has it got a 90 day warranty?

if it does go for it. if something was not rebuilt correctly it will malfunction before the 90 days is up.... after 90 days it will be used whether you buy new or not...

One year parts and labor from the manufacturer. 30 defective exchange policy also(I get a brand new one if it fucks up within 30 days after I get it)...

Power tools. Chain saw, weed eater, lawn mower(push), miter saw, bench grinder, stuff like that. Never had a problem with them. Of course, I took care of them too....preventive maintanence kind of stuff.

I see where you are coming from though.

Ahh ok. For a minute there I thought you were talking about a hammer or hacksaw when you meant "tools" :FRlol:...

I'm glad you weren't thinking I was talking about dildos and vibrators......real power tools!

When Handspring refurbed all their PDA's I bought one for everyone at Christmas.

No complaints from anyone yet.

refurbished DVDs are shit IMO. Trust me, i bought two that ended up being shit. With that money, i could have gotten a new, working model. Live & learn.

Try a new or slightly used sony or Zenith, i hear they are good models. You can probably find one on ebay for $100 or so.

I've bought refurbed stuff before, and had great luck. My old CD-R is a Yamaha refurb, and it still works great.

The laptop that I'm on now, one that I bought for a girlfriend, and a monitor that I have all were refurbished.
I have a DVD player that was new, but I refurbished it bying tearing the top open and when it stops working I just poke it with my fingers until it works again.

Toshiba makes kick assDVD players - I say go with that.

I want refurbished food. mmmm.

My laptop is refurbished and it hasn't given me any trouble in the past 2 years. Always buy refurb. shit vs. new shit if it comes with a warranty and looks like it's in good shape. No reason to pay more.

www.ubid.com is good place to get refurbished stuff cheap since it is auctioned.
just don't get caught in the mentality that you have to win one particular auction.
find what you want, decide what you are willing to pay for it at most, and then if an auction exceeds that, find another one like it.

that is what I did for my laptops.

for desktop systems I just assemble them myself, which is plenty cheap for me. laptops aren't really conducive to that.
nor are DVD players.

(also, since UBid's stuff tends to be factgory refurbished stuff, there is still a warrenty on it AND Ubid has their own guarentee that if it breaks right off they will take it back - they are good about that)
