"For optimal muscle gains, one should never train with weights in the gym for more than 4 times a week and not longer than 60 minutes a workout"
Its from The no2 and you book.
You think he's right?

Absolutely not! Plenty of people make great gains working out 5, 6, even 7 days a week. Saying 4 days a week maximum is just "playing it safe" to make sure you will have enough rest to recover.

I've found that I can keep progressing if I have at least 1 day of rest per week. As you've probably heard before, everyone is different, experiment and find out what works best for you :)

i've tried 5 day splits. definately a way to overtrain, in my opinion (unless it is cardio or something on the 5th day). i just can't find anything left to train that isn't already left sore or comprimised by the training of a prime mover (from squats, bench, ohp, and deads especially)

Myself, I can go up to 5 days a week max, but thats if I keep the volume low

ive always gone 4-5 days a week, until i tried out dc training, where i was going 3. Im going back to a 4 day split, 5x5 routine

I am on a 4 day split (3days on, 1 day off -thatmeans 5-6 workouts a week) with the 5x5 routine. But I take a lot of vitamins and getting a massage would help even more.

HOWEVER this is really an individual thing. There are guys who are huge on three days. Just keep your eyes out for overtraining and ramp it up as you please. Also drink lots of water to help flush the toxins and lactose out of your muscles.
