Something about the magazine photoshoots seems to dictate that the plates are all facing the camera. So on one side the face out and on the other they face in...
ANYWAY, I've been lifting for like 14 years and I put the flat sides in and the numbers out - just because that's how I do it!
I tried the home-gym yellow-stickies method last night, but one of them fell off during the set. I wasn't sure how much weight I was doing anymore, so I had to stop, reset, get another sticky-note ready, and then try the set again. It's kinda' a pain, but there's no excuse for not knowing how much you're lifting!

I had to use my fingers today to add 45+45+45+45+45+45!!! then, AGAIN
45+45+how much does a BB weigh again????? oh yeah....45... I dont even count the weight anymore... rather I figure the size of the plates and how many... 1 big one and 2 small ones.... thats it. I couldnt give a rip where the numbers face, they go in whichever direction they come off the rack in reverse....
