F#%ck'n Oats Mate!

Greets to all the bro's who have helped me plan my 12 week introduction to building a carved body! Tomorrow morning it starts :-)

I have made my 6 meal a day diet plans and have just been to the supermarket and stocked up on loads of eggs, chicken breasts and tuna.

Heres a question though. I'm from New Zealand and don't really know what "oatmeal" is, so I bought a pack of this stuff called "Traditional Wholegrain Oats". Looks like a bag of crap, how do you actually eat this? does it taste as bland as it looks? any way to make it taste alright?

Also, anyone out there use an accu-measure for bodyfat testing? I bought one and measured myself and it thinks I'm only 13.8%, I reckon I'm a lot fatter than that! Anyone also run into this dillemma?

Thanks a lot folks, looking forward to my new lifestyle!

haha it sure doesnt taste like strawberry shortcake! you just eat it bro, or put some oils on it

so you eat it raw? or do you boil it ?
Also, embarrasingly enough, I dont know how to cook much.
How do I cook the chicken breasts? I only have an oven/grill and a microwave?

cheers

I cook my oats, but you can eat them raw if you want. You can use water or milk.
It takes about 3 mins in the microwave.
you can add a few raisins and chopped fruit to make it easier to eat.

I use milk with both my oats and scrambled eggs.

hey gibs0n.

i was in the exact same place as you when i first started getting control of my diet.

i would say my number one recommendation would be to get a george formen grill ASAP. I cook chicken breast on it twice a day and a steak once a day.

The chicken breast will be done in about 5 minutes.

The steak will be done in 10 (depends on how bloody ya like it, 10 minutes = well done)

also- i dont like oats either but i eat the shit outta them :)

i dont like them cooked, so i put them (1/2 cup) raw into my shake and blend that shit up real nice.

im not familiar with the accu-measure for bodyfat, is it one of things that you grip with two hands and then it uses an electrical pulse to come up with your bodyfat?

those things aren't accurate.

Hey, thanks for the replies. I had my oatmeal and scrambled eggs after my cardio workout thismorning, the eggs were not too bad but man, the oatmeal is shite! guess I'm gonna have to learn to like it. Can you use salt on ur eggs n oats when doing a cutting phase?

ChewYxRage: The accu-measure is a self testing plastic caliper, sells for about $20 US. http://accumeasurefitness.com/
I have no idea how accurate it is though.

4oz of chicken breast is bugger all! I gotta look forward to that and a half cup of oatmeal in 45 minutes!

:))

gibs- chicken breast are so easy to cook.
first, do like chewy says, get a george foreman grille from walmart or something. also pic up some lemmon pepper and some kinda seasoning salt. I like to rub those breast with little olive oil then sprinkle some seaoning on em them throw em on the GFG and thats it. george foreman grille is the shiznit, and as far as oatmeal goes just dump some a dat shit ur blender when y ou make shake.. kinda makes me wanta chew when i drink my shake up , funny.....

Heres a tip, NEVER, EVER, EVER mix a serving of boiled oatmeal and a serving of yogurt and try to eat it as a meal, especially cold, 2 spoonfulls through and you'll be gagging like theres no tomorrow!

Can you make a decent meal as a sandwich? like a tuna and salad sandwich with wholegrain bread? or wouldnt this be a big enough meal?

Also is a sweet onion chicken teryaki sub from subway considered a "cheat meal"? Or can you eat it up as a normal meal?

I'm on a cutting diet initially btw

You are better off dropping the breads while on a cutting diet. Even Whole grain is like 29g of carbs per slice!!! Not to mention the sugars and other engredients.

Oatmeal is not the best at first, but you'll learn to eat it. Try using splenda with it, it'll make a whole world of difference.
