He bros,
I have been watching this site for awhile and finally decided to join. Now, this is my first post and it may turn out a little long, but I really need some expert help!

I have been bodybuilding for about 5 years and have been using AS for about 3. Well, about 3 months ago I got a serious hernia engery and which even cause some damage to one of my testicals (ouch, I know!).

Anyway, I had surgery and they repaired everything including the damage to my testical (it was actually the cord that is attached to the testical) but I have not touched a weight for about 3 months and I have lossed serious weight (about 20 pounds) due to not working out and loss of appitite.

My doctor said I could start working out again LIGHTLY, but could only do exercises that did not put any strain in the lower region (meaning, my nuts area). Unfortunately, he knows nothing about wieght lifting so I am asking you guys as to what types of excercises I can do. Now, comon sense says try different things and stop doing the ones that you feel straining that area. Well, the problem with that is, I am still a little numb and may not know if I am straining that area or not.

PLEASE HELP!

Oh, it was squats that I got hurt on and I "should" not have any problems with my willy and his brothers once everything is heald.

Thanks in advance!

thanks for the replies so far, please keep them comming!

Avoid anything that strains your abdomonal wall since this is where the tear occured, doing lower back will also strain this because of the contraction of these muscles will put tension ot the abs. pretty much stay on the machines, since free weights cause a lot of body movement since the diaphram is usually flexed to stabalize your upper body in free weight motion.

any compound movements that involves the legs or back in any way could aggrivate it. This includes deadlifts , leg press , all squats , shrugs , rows , even heavy barbell curls.

I would start with light weight to minimize any risk of poor form for arms , shoulders , and chest. For back and legs start with intense stretching and warming up and slowing ease into some light isolation exercices for the legs and back and if you are feeling ok try light compound movement with extreme caution.

I had a mofo of a right ingurnial hernia repaired about 4 years ago, the biggest my surgeon had ever seen. (He does about 100 a year)

All I can say is, take it easy for as long as possible. You do not want to fuck it up again. I understand the desire to get back at it after losing size, but just accept it for the time being. The good thing is though, it should heal up well. Mine was repaired with some synthetic mesh and seems to be pretty strong, I've been deadlifting with low reps ever since and I have yet to rupture he thing. (that would define pain)

I know exactly how you feel bro ...I had the exact same thing where it traveled down into my nut, then after surgury I blew the stiches inside and had internal bleeding. My nut blew up to the size of a grapefruit :( and i couldn't walk for a month. When i got back into it i started off slow with low weight mainly isolation movements and just went up in weight as long as I didn't feel abdominal pressure. I lost 20 lbs, but don't worry the weight will come back fast.

Dude, what you described is EXACTELY what happened. It looks kinda funny, one side of my scrotum is the size of a grapefruit and the other side is the size of a ping pong ball.

any other advce for me bro, since you have been thru it.....I am all ears!!!!!!!!!!

I lost my appetite completely when it happened, so the most important thing for me once the training started back up was to eat like crazy. Like I said stay away from all the compound movements. I'd stay away from legs for awhile then hit them real hard when you feel good enough. You're body will tell what to do better then anyone one here, if you feel a strain then stop. Sorry to hear that you had to go through that shit to. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. That nut swelling eventually goes down though. But best of luck bro

3 months you should be pretty well healed by now, I have a client who is a MD he had a massive hernia repaired about 6 months ago. He was doing light leg work after 3 weeks and going pretty heavy on the leg press after 6 weeks. If I were you I would seek the advice of a Doctor who is into lifting or other sports. The mesh repair is very strong and reliable.:D
