It's not the amount that is import its the fact that people were taxing tea to pay a bill from money borrowed from the central banking system that is fiat currency.

The only Stamp Tax I'm aware of is the one I see on trading stocks that are in the UK exchanges.
That one is between .5% and 2%.

As for the Stamp Tax back then, I wish more people would rise up against taxes today. And the legions of killing robots that are out there and people just choose to ignore as if that will make them go away.
