Evidence of Jesus found?

Could the guy just have a father named Joseph and a brother named Jesus? Were they common names?

Joseph and Jesus were common names.
Also all it would prove is that someone lived downthere whose name was Jesus and who had a father named Joseph.

Does it prove that Jesus was actually the son of god or that he worked any miracles?

No it doesnt prove anything it does appear however to be more than coincidence. Recording the brother of the man on the tomb was not common practice and this suggests the brother 'jesus' was of major significance. So it proves that someone in the biblical period of jesus lived a man named james with a brother named jesus and a father named joseph and the man Jesus was of importance.

While on the topic of jesus.

New book says Jesus was short, unattractive

October 23 2002 at 04:01PM

Rome - Jesus was short and unattractive and was not born in a manger on December 25, according to a book by two Catholic journalists backed by the Vatican and published in Italy.

The Eleven Commandments, written by two journalists for the Avvenire bishops' daily paper, is dedicated to exposing the "equivocations and lies" contained in the Bible and traditional Christian teaching.

Based on their study of original sacred texts, Elisabetta Broli and Roberto Beretta's book carries a preface by Gianfranco Ravasi, a member of the Vatican's cultural committee, congratulating the writers "who, like hounds, have gone in search of these pseudo-biblical truffles, as malodorous as they are delicious".

Some of the myths exploded in the new book are likely to cause shock for some churchgoers, however.

Among them, it reveals that Jesus Christ was born neither on December 25 nor in a manger with an ox and an ass for warmth. Furthermore, he was short and - according to modern aesthetics - not very nice to look at.

Jesus lived into his forties, around 10 years longer than the Bible suggests, and his father Joseph is more likely to have been an affluent and well-respected architect than a humble carpenter.

The 10 commandments were neither dictated to Moses by God, the book says, nor were they ever engraved on stone tablets.

Joshua could not have brought down the walls of Jericho with his light trumpet batallion, since archeologists have shown that the town was already a ruin by the time he was born.

Jonas was never swallowed by a whale, the Israelites never crossed the Red Sea, David did not kill Goliath, Saint Peter was not crucified upside-down, Saint Paul did not fall off his horse on the way to Damascus and, if Eve ate a fruit in the Garden of Eden, it was an orange or a fig, not an apple. - Sapa-AFP

This guy found Noah's Ark and the Ark of the Covenant and the real Mt. Sinai.

Actually, there has been a documentary on the real Mt. Sinai, but it is heavily guarded by the Saudi military. Two Americans were sneaky enough to break though and video tape the evidence.

If indeed one thing in the bible is proven wrong. It discredits the whole thing as being the word of God. Will the real God please stand up? I'm calling you out God, where are you?

so many skeptics, it's amazing. everyone used to say, "THERE WAS NO JESUS" now that there is so many new facts and proof that there was jesus, people say, "SO THERE WAS A JESUS! WHY WAS HE SO SPECIAL? NO PROOF OF HIS MIRACLES" Fools will be doubting jesus christ until there end. just like the bible says.

Unlike the more intelligent people who believe in people walking across water and duplicating fishes ;)

Facts and proof that Jesus existed and performed miracles? There are things that are not even 100 years old, documented with photo and video evidence along with firsthand accounts, and some of these subjects are still subject to debate.

Jesus' miracles are as valid as the accounts of people in mexico who see the virgin mary in their tortillas.

Hey man, I'm still laughing about that dream you had where you were riding on a golfcart and looked down and discovered your penis was missing. That's the longest I've laughed in years.

I am an atheist, but i have never denied the existance of Jesus.

I think the bible is a good book, not a heap of bullshit. but when i read it, to me it is full of symbolism.

i dont think the bible was meant to claim any events to happen that are in conflict with science.

Do people still take those guys seriously?

How so? The Bible is a compilation of men telling God's word, not God writing it Himself.

Exactly.

The Bible is written in the 3rd person. Sometimes even the 4th, 5th etc...

There suppossed to be a gospel supposedly written
by Jesus of Arimathea(Jesus for short) but the Vatican
doesn't aknowledge it.

Go figure.

Forgive my ignorance. This has convinced me. For this has to be the word of God and not made up by men trying to get you to believe what they want you to believe for their own gain. I've already told you dude, I've read the bible. Don't quote scripture to me. Sounds impressive to a non-thinker.

I think you mean Joseph of Arimathea. He was the uncle of Jesus of Nazareth, the one who wrapped him after he was taken from the cross, and some wonder if Joseph took the Holy Grail to England. It is known that he started the first Christian church on the British Isles in Gastonbury, England.

This is also supposedly where King Authur and Lady Genivere were buried.

Existance? Shit! Isn't he that mexican guy in the Wendy's drive thru with the hair net?

Nope, do you suggest it?

Yes. Even though most of it is exagerrated(Medieval Myths
almost always are), it does give you great insight into the
whole religious debacle of the middle ages.

I still can't decide wether Merlin existed or not.(probably not
his real name). But there is mention of Arthur's advisors.
He could be one of them.

And then there is Stonehenge....nobody knows who built it.
