Ever use a TENS unit for back pain

My back has been bothering me on and off for a few years, I know its due to heavy lifting so no more heavy dead lifts for me. A friend of mine has a TENS unit ( Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator). I was wondering if any of you guys have used one of these and what are your thoughts on them.

Thanks
By the way its an $850 unit and he is willing to trade for a couple bottle of test. Are these things even worth your while?

I am working on my Chiropractor's Assistant Certification...Yes, they may help temporarly as they help stimulate the release of endorphins...but you need to fix the problem and not mask it.

I go to a wonderful chiropractor who works with bodybuilders and powerlifters. I get decent results from him however I still continue to injure my back once it gets feeling better. I'm just running out of options and its really starting to conflict with my bodybuilding. Would you recommend going to a doctor or continue with my chiropractor sessions? By the way my lower back kills me everytime I cough, it almost sends me to the floor in such pain, do you have any idea what this could be?

Could be a possible muscle tear, doctor s. a chiropractor would be a good idea at this point and a second opinion helps any way find one who is into sports medicine and has an open mind. I loved the electrostim and deep ultra sound while going thru phys. therapy for my back-chased the pain away

I have two herniated disc and it will help short term ( for as long as it's on)but if the problem persists seek help.

Stairmaster. Trust me on this one, I was the poster boy for back problems, now I squat over 225 when 6 years ago I couldn't lean forward 1 inch let alone bend over.
Move, and take Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Electric stim never did anything for me.
You need to regenerate the area with circulation, movement, and cartilidge regenerating substances. The Stairmaster was the beginning of my comeback.
