....you feel like taking your training in another direction? eg: changing from bodybuilding to powerlifting etc? - Just answer this top question here you dont have to listen to my sob story.

I just get so frustrated sometimes that I can't make decent gains. It isn't my diet or training or diet becasue i have been trained onlien by a well respected, well known trainer...and i have tried alot of different things....
I've been lifting for 4 years, I'm 23 and have worked my ass to be able to squat 400 x 9 and deadlift 500 x 6 etc....I am 5'8/ 220lbs/ 14% BF and i eat a TON of protein and aroudn 5000 cals a day...im can add "weight" meanign get a bit fatter but not muscle and i KEEP make decent strength gains...
You woudl think I good add size with strength gaisn and massive eating but it just wont happen. I'm still natural btw.

I dont' want to talk to much about my previous trainign because i dont' want to mention my trainer or style of training...i cant post my current diet because its what i'm doing now and their is a privacy code.

I love BBing to death but man I get so frustrated with all the work i put in and dont get much in return of size gains.

Sometiems i just wanna leave BBing behidn and go and do powerliftign or track but i dont have the balls and i dont knwo if it would make me happy.

Anyway, enough abotu me, I'd rather hear if I'm not alone here.

The genetics you have no are for the rest of your life. Your best to just accept this now and rest easy. Besides, getting huge takes alot more work then you think. At 5'8, you're a pretty heavy guy if you havent noticed. You also have great numbers on your lifts for just 4 years of training. I realize that you might be in some sort of mental rut with your training and that's alright, it happens to all of us. Some days you just feel so dissappointed with you're size/look, other days you feel like your diet is complete shit and you just feel like the world is gonna end because bodybuilding is everything. But its not, and unless you are trying to turn this into a career, just stick at what you're doing and progress at the pace your body can handle.

Nope, and truthfully, neither should you. I don't know a whole lot about bodybuilding and the ins and outs as it was never my thing, but I can ofer some advice.

If you're being honest, then 220 at 5'8" and 14% bodyfat and being natural is something to be proud of. I don't know your long-term goals. If you want to be 290lbs at 5'8" and then compete at 250 ripped, then I'm sure you know what that requires. If it is a case of not being happy with your structural genetics, there isn't much you can do, but just by looking at a lot of today's top pros, a lack of structural genetics hasn't stopped them, lol.

Your strength is very respectable, and if you get the urge to try powerlifting or a strength sport, there is no reason you shouldn't. If you are set on making BB your life, and you want to remain natural, up your calories if you're not gaining.

although I would like to be bigger, its cool.

I lift for strength, and if I dont hit a weight then its just not supposed to happen that time.

It isn't my diet or training

I bet it is. Just because you have a PT that is well respected, doesn't mean he knows your body. Some people are unique and require different training methods. If you are 5' 8" and 220 with 14%bf, then WTF are you complaining about? How heavy did you think you would get naturally at 5'8'?

I think I know what you are complaining about. Its not your size, its the muscle quality you hate. You probably look good in a shirt and pants, but naked, you look soft. You don't have squared muscles and probably little definiton. I worked out with a guy like that. He gained a lot of strength and size, but had no muscle tone. Some people jsut don't have great muscle shape, but most of the time its too much fat. I am willing to bet your 14%bf is more like 20%+. At 5'8" 220, you would be JACKED if you had only 14% bodyfat. You are taking in 5000 calories a day which seems to be a lot at your weight/height. I would try to lose as much fat as you can and go a bit lighter in the weight department.

220 at 5'8" and 14% BF and you are complaining? Sounds like you've got great genetics. at 23 yrs old and only 4 years of training you probably aren't even close to peaking.

Of course...it upsets me all the time. I've been training for 12 years, been competing in strongman for 4, been a pro for nearly 3. It frustrates me that I'm not near the top or that at a decently lean 280 I'm the smallest guy out there most of the time (in body weight, height, and general bone frame).
