Enough Cardio?

Active member
Thanks for lookin in.

I was just curious if i was doing enough cardio or should i increase it some.

I do this 3 times a week in the order below then weights after (i cannot do it the other way around) i also do 1 day of just weights and 20 mins treadmill.

Treadmill - 20 Mins -10kph - Hill (level 3-4) (various incline from 1 -4) (was thinking of increasing to 30 mins)

Bike 15 Mins level 6 (intesinty medium)

Cross Trainer 15 Mins Level 6/8 (intensity medium/hard)

Rower 15 mins level 7/8 (intensity Medium/slighly hard)

I have about 90 second break in between each machine.

I then move on to weights for maybe a hour (it varies depending on day sometimes longer sometimes shorter)

I was then thinking of adding some swimming after i finished my workout maybe 30 mins or so. Is this enough?

Thanks for your help.

Looks like too much cardio to me. That much cardio should be done on "cardio" days and not in conjuction with your weight days.

I have no problem with an hour of cardio but I think it's silly to use 4 machines to get there. Do two daily with a 5 minute break and rotate. You need to keep your HR elevated for at least 20 minutes to get any real aerobic benefit.

Consider this for a shock or change from more repetetive cardio

do this.2x a week..sprint for 10-20 seconds straight ahead walk back to the starting line, repeat until you have a 10-16 minute workout ...your done.... for more intensity add seconds to your sprint and or walk back faster.

I like to do cardio after lifting weights so I get the most out of the workout and then do around 60-90 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical.

IMO, Swimming is a great workout on its own. Im never hungrier than after 2000 yards in the pool. Chest, back, and shoulders pumped and lungs feel great.

too much or too little, depends on your goal. for general aerobic/cardio fitness, since youre only doing it 3x a week, i guess it's not overkill. if youre traininig for a show, then it;s not enough. so, what are your goals?

Sorry forgot about this thread.

Basically it was just to add cardio to my fitness regime whilst burning fat etc. Since i posted i have changed my whole workout. I do weights 3 times a week (maybe some light cardio, 20 min sor something like that) and 2/3 times a week i do HIT cardio the days im not at the gym seems to work better for me now :)

Thanks
