hello, i'm completely new to the site and would like to start by saying i've seen some really great advice on here and would certainly appreciate any responses. anyway, i'm 22 and work out about 4 times a week. my diet is pretty solid and i'm getting my eight hours of sleep. however, i feel unusually fatigued and unmotivated at certain parts of the day and was wondering if their was anything i can take to peek my energy.:fro:

energy problems

sounds to me like a possible roller-coaster ride with insulin levels.try eating 5 or 6 small meals per day. you are describing what usually happens to people who eat 2 to 3 times a day- they get fatigued in the later part of the day. this is because of going to long in between meals which causes a shift in blood-sugar levels.if you are working out hard you must constantly feed the machine. bodybuilding places great demands on the CNS and skeletol muscle system. my advice is to first change eating patterns. this is the simplist, and quickest way to see if this could be your problem. do only one adjustment at a time,ie..diet, supplement, drugs, etc. do not change a bunch of things at once- you can miss alot of clues to whats going on. you described a classic symtomology- I hope this advise helps- its safe.

Just a tip from an old chronic fatigue survivor:

2 or 3 tablespoons of sea salt spaced throughout the day

Plenty of additional water as a chaser.

This will add to your electrolyte stability and ease the burden of kidney-adrenal overload.

some tyrosine could help. 1-2 grams in the morning or before a workout. I have had GREAT results with energy and this supp. good luck:D

I may be coming from left field, but have you considered a possible sleep disorder? They're more common than people think. Many people who are eventually diagnosed with a sleep disorder have suffered 10-20 years before getting a correct diagnosis. This is because many symptoms correlate with other illnesses such as low thyroid, blood sugar, etc.

Here is a cool sleep test:

check your diet, incorporate a good B-Complex, also throw in some shitake mushrooms to combat fatigue. if its because of lack of sleep, try some melatonin, 3mg before bed, to help with sleep

I moved about a month ago and have suffered the same problem. I made the dumb move of drinking coffee whenever I felt the least bit tired, which might've caused a slight caffeine addiction -- exacerbating the problem. Now I'm meditating once a night and eating a diet that does not cause insulin peaks and valleys (very frequent, small meals). I feel much better, so i hope that this is of some help to you.

PBR has great advise! You are describing symptoms of irregular blood sugar levels. It is possible that you are hypoglycemic. Try cutting down on refined carbohydrate foods that are high on the glycemic index. Dink at least a gallon of water daily and take a "quality" multi-vitamin and at least 1000mg fish oil daily. Have you been on a cycle recently? Are you on now? The reason I ask is that you are also describing symptoms of low testosterone or worse- elevated estrogen.

are you eating enough?

i used to feel fatigued all the time. i didn't want to pack on fat (i'd gone from mush to a lean physique by running cross country), so i would continually undershoot my caloric requirements. as soon as my dumb ass realized i wasn't eating enough, i boosted my intake and, guess what, i felt a gazillion times better.

i also cut out the caffeine and started drinking shitloads of water, which also made me feel a gazillion times better.
