I was using a small tube of Dr. Bond superglue to glue the head back onto one of my son's action figure when my thumb went right through the tube and the stuff exploded all over my thumb. now I have this stuff all dried up on both my thumbs and index fingers. this shit will not come off. i tried to pout pure acetone on there and no dice. wtf can I use to get this shit off me? my son has some dried up on his finger as well.

god damn this might have an impact on my mini golf game.

Let it wear off, don't try to removed it -- ever.

That's basically the same stuff they use to glue skin together (instead of sutures). Its not going to just peel off.

it wont come off.

u can nail file some of it off and u just have to wait for ur skin cells to shed i tnaturally

dudes. this stuff is covering the entire top of 4 of my fingers including my thumb nails/ right now since it is dried on there, I am trying to flake and pick it off.

what about terpentine?>

we must see some pics, and by the way, that shit dont come off, only time will heal the wounds my friend

girl the best thing to do is a nice file. Try to file the glu off as much as you can depending on how thick the glue has set. There is nothing that will work.Been there done that, over a kid toy as well. lol

Belt sander. Does the trick every time. Just make sure you don't take off more than 8 or 10 layers of skin with it.

I thought about you today when i was in the grocery store surrounded by people. I decided to pretend that I was taking a stroll through the country and that there were no people around me, it worked.

roflololololollololololololololo

(more like giggling quietly to myself)

Soften up the glue with Vaseline and warm soapy water then gently file it off. If it does get soft try the acetone and nail polish remover again.

as a mortician I use the stuff to patch what I can't suture with dental floss

If you go to your pharmacist thye can sell you 99% pure alcohol.

That's usually effective at removing most super glues.

Just a tip from my former profession....

They make remover for the stuff now.

I think the most common brand I have seen is "________-Off" Can't remember the first part but the last is "Off".

You can get it at a Pharmacy, Wal-mart, hardware store, sometimes supermarkets, $ stores, Home Depot, Lowe's,etc....

The Vaseline, 99% alcohol works well, just like Swole describes.

Skin Contact; Remove excess adhesive. Soak in warm, soapy water. The
adhesive will come loose from the skin in several hours.
Cured adhesive does not present a health hazard even when bonded to the skin.
For skin adhesion ,first immerse the bonded surfaces in warm, soapy water. Peel
or roll the surfaces apart with the aid of a blunt edge, e.g., spatula or
teaspoon handle:
Then remove adhesive from the skin with soap and water. Do not
try to pull surfaces apart with a direct opposing action.
Cyanoacrylates give off heat on solidification. In rare cases, a large
drop will increase in temperature enough to cause a burn. Burns
should be treated normally after the lump of cyanacrylate is
released from the tissue as described above.

lol Thanks for the K.

I picture you sitting at the keyboard with a pencil in your mouth pecking out the letters since your fingers are stuck together lol

lol actually my fingers werent stuck together, but I had that shit stuck all over 4 of my fingers and my thumb nail is still coated with it. lol looks like white paint.

my husband told me the same thing everyone else did: Uh yeah it'll come off in about a week.

LOL dammit

20 molar Hydroflouric Acid should do the trick.

I'd need to know the chemical composition of the 'superglue' before finding an acid or base that would break the bonds of the glue.

What are the ingredients on the bottle of superglue? Like, the big, long, chemical-y words. (Make sure to spell them right)

HTH

I was kidding about the hydroflouric acid, by the way. Don't fuck with that stuff. Baaaaaaaaaaad things happen.

Yeah I know, I was a chemistry major for one year until I determined that it was too much work for a lazy 18yr old underachiever.

This is an exlpanation of the product:

for some reason, i keep reading this and laughing

Ingestion is not likely. The adhesive solidifies and adheres in
the mouth. If lips are accidentally stuck together, apply lots of warm
water to the lips and encourage maximum wetting and pressure
from saliva inside the mouth. Peel or roll lips apart. Do not try to
pull the lips with direct opposing action. Saliva will lift the
adhesive in one half to two days.

Acetone normally works on cyanocrylate.

Unfortunetly, acetone found at commecial stores like Wal-Mart, et cetera are so weak they take a long time to be effective.

We need an EF chemistry lab or something, lol.
