The bolt and the receiver should have matching serial numbers. What often happened with alot of captures is that they removed the bolts and threw them all in a big bin. Then, when the G.I.'s were picking up their rifles to send home, they were given random bolts from the pile. All matching serial numbers is a big advantage in war surplus weapons. The X thru the mum is better than no mum at all.

the chrysanthemum on mine just has an X through it, which is far better than it being completely ground off.
when you say matching bolt, are they serialized? i havn't pulled this thing apart in 2 years so i don't remember. can't remember if it's a type 38 or 99 anymore either. oh well. i can look it all up if need be.
