Elite chat causing problems

Does the chat freeze up other peoples systems too?

This is a brand new computer (like a week old), but when I come here the chat popup seems to freeze me up about half the time

Anything I can do to fix this?

I have had some freezing problems when pming people. Have to close it and go back in. I was wondering what the deal was as well wonder if admin is aware of this at all.
