Elite at work??--help me

hugecalves

New member
Okay bros, I work for "insert name here" huge corporation. I am one of the few with internet access and I just can't stay away from these boards for 12-16 hours a day while working so I have been surfing Elite while at work. Naturally, the company has restricted many sites with 'websense' either for 'sexuality' 'drugs' 'tasteless', etc. Do you think they actually record every site I visit, amount of time surfing, etc? I haven't heard of anyone getting busted for surfing but I know they monitor emails a lot. They have also denied access to many of the privacy sites such as 'anonymizer.com' 'safeweb.com' etc. Am I gonna get caught or should I keep browsing. Let me know what you guys think.

I think it depends on how much your company is monitoring web surfing- My wife works for a large "company" and she has actually seen some employees get busted for web time.It just depends on the company.

Okay--maybe I'll expand the question. Anyone think it's common for a company to have software that tracks every website hit or do they just use 'websense' to record sites that they have restricted. ????

Some have it set up so it alerts them when somebody is using the web excessively and they can then check every page you have visited. I'm expecting the sack any day now!

Many companies use Internet tracking software. It really depends on the level of control, or if you have an anal Network/Systems admin.

It is very easy to track what is requested from the Internet.

It works like this....

You machine has an IP address (either dynamic or static), which can be tied back to your username on the network.

Your IP address makes a request for a site, that site name is translated in to an IP address. The request for that IP is handed off to a Proxy/Firewall and passed through a router. The router returns the info to the Proxy/Firewall and finally to the machine that requested it.

If your job is on the line, dude, chill out.

My company has a firewall that restricts a lot of shit too. But since I was sleeping with a chick that was friends with the Net people, she got the "backdoor" settings (I backdoored her too). It allows unrestricted browsing and as far as I can tell, doesn't keep logs or no one gives a shit about them. I've had these setting for well over a year and have looking at some very naught stuff.

So what does it mean to have the backdoor settings?

I sepnd too much time here also... but you gotta have regular breaks when you are learning.. So every hour I nip off for ten minutes Gary time...

That means I come here or go elsewhere on the net - or I look out of the window and oggle the birds in London...

I have two friends who work for two different companies, one works for an internet provider the other is a stock broker....both got warned by thier supervisors that they found out that they were accessing non work related sites...they weren't even looking at porn sites and thier supervisors basically said next time they are fired. Be careful.
