Electronics Wizards: Mp3 Player Questions

FORTUNE

New member
Hi I have been researching CNET.com and PCMAG but i cant really find info on what to do when I need an mp3 player for a non-electricity long-use environment ESPECIALLY for camping or canoe tripping. I know that Belkin sells a double AA battery pack that I THINK (not sure) is able to FUEL the iPOD (some varietys) after the ipod battery dies. I could go 10 + days with no source of electricity, but wanna bump beats all day. Anybody have any experience /able to awnser my question in this area..........also does anyone know would that Belkin AA pack work with other players like iAUDIO or iRiver players.....or do they have their own.....i can never seem to find this type of accessory on the accesories pages of manufacturers websites. But i am sure this is a somewhat common problem, not everybodys a super city slicker haah.

any advice greatly appreciated holla

also, any sick new players coming out. im not a super ipod fan really............unlimited money...........looking for brand new 5gb or 10gb no more

My brother has one of the AA battery packs for his iPod. It's good for about two full recharges of the iPod on one set of batteries and it only works with the iPod and not with the original iPods. You'd need one which has the dock-connector. I don't know of similar for the other players but I think some of the Creative Labs ones work with batteries rather than their own internal rechargeable battery.

Make sure you have enough capacity to hold all the songs you're going to want over that time. Any iPod which will take the battery pack will be plenty big enough.

Just spotted this: http://www.solio.com
A solar charger. I read they had an exhibit at MacWorld with a solar charger for the iPod. It's there under their 'web store' link on the left.

My iRiver iFP-190 lasts for about 2 days with one battery, so you could just bring a pack of AA's and it'd last you about 10 days. I have a sony charger thats supposed to recharge batteries...I leave the battereis in there for like 9 hours but it doesn't recharge them at all..never trusted those things

ok cool .....yes i know about the Belkin AA battery pack for the iPOD, but im not interested in ipod really..........thanks...anyone else now anything

Not sure whether you're being serious :)
You can only recharge the rechargable type batteries not standard ones.
