I just want to know if you constantly do it if it is bad for you? health wise.....like i know they say don't put it too close top u'r heart, and that kinda scares the sh*t out of me.....so i dunno if it is ok for you or what.......also when do i use it, i've heard b4 and after workouts........do i just pick which one? or do i not use it on the body part i worked out that day......i have a pretty powerful unit, just in case that makes any difference...

any suggestions would be appreciated...

thanks

dude

if u have a good industrial strength unit it's pretty good, i had on a decent level for like 10 mins on my bi's and tri's and i felt a pump after i was done......this isn't a handheld peice of crap, maybe that's what u'r thinking of......u can feel them working though..

i dunno...everyone has their own opinion...

I read an artilce awhile ago that said they will give a strength increase but are not good for putting on size. Still though the ability to move more weight means the ability to put more size on.

I have a model called the EMS 2000, and i think u can buy it at vitality.....something i forget, but just do a search for it, it shocks the crap out of your muscles, i can't even handle the maximum at all it's pretty powerful...

but is it bad for u in any way? like, can this thing give me a brain tumor or give me cancer.......i dunno, it is just f*cked up when you muscles are twitching so hard, it kinda seems that its almost bad for you, but i don't really know.......

I have seen ads in the back of bodybuiding magazines where those units sell for up to and more than 1K dollars. Even better than spending the grand on that machine, you could guy 1k worth of gear and get much better results in my opinion.

Agreed

I have been using the abtronic for the past few weeks and have to say I am noticing a difference. My abs are alot tighter than before and alot stronger. I use it 3 times a day for 30 minutes and am happy with the results. I like doing my abs while I am at work behind my desk or kicking back at home reading a book.

We have some at the job, and my roomate has one, bought it some months ago
and it was pretty expensive around 1k+, he seems to like it he uses it when he on DNP
or on day off.

i tried one on my abs for 15 min. at the highest level and i wasn't even sore the next day. it said only do it for 10 the first time on a low level. i don't know, your muscles twitch but i don't know how effective they are for putting on muscle???

Im a bit confused with these products. First off, the electrical current in our bodies does not directly cause our muscles to contract. When the electrical current arrives at the nerve terminal it cause our bodies to release a chemical called acytecholine. Once a sufficient amount is present, it generates an action potential that causes the muscle to contract. Second, if these products do actually mimic the electrical currents in our bodies that cause our muscles to contract, why can you sit there forever without your muscles getting fatigued? When you do acutal resistance training, your muscles fatigue and the need rest. Your body responds to the stimulus and uses one of its biological energy systems to replenish ATP to allow you to continue.

don't go spending money on one of these things expecting to build muscle with it.

they are good for basically two things: rehabilitation of an injured muscle and increasing nervous system efficiency (fiber recruitment, etc.).

If you're interested in learning more.

I have, and do use the technology , and continue to see definite positive results (the unit I use is not of the infomercial variety- they are consumable products requiring addt'l purchases, and are of dubious quality). I do believe however, that if you are really interested, you might want to check out the most recent newsletter posted on the biostimstherapy.com website. Try the following: http://www.biostimtherapy.com/newsletters/index.html

There seems to be alot of demagoguery involved when trying to learn more about the EMS technology, so just do a little research outside the commercial only sites. A GREAT many of the commercial sites are promoting their products, not the efficacy of EMS. If you see "gain six pack abs in only ten minutes a day, or ten minutes exercise with our unit is equal to 600 sit ups, then skip the site.

I know Bruce Lee used it. I know I know he was not a bodybuilder, but he was strong for his size, tight as hell and could kick the shit out of most people...

I shall look with an open mind...

Go to Ebay, search FastAbs Deluxe and buy one for $40.... I can tell you they are more for tightening and hardening muscle than acctually helping you lift more weight but do give strength increases... I would say anybody who plays physical demanding sports should get one,, Have had mine for about 3 weeks now, Can take harder hits to the ab/oblique region.. but i honestly think they are a waste if doing small muscle groups, such as Bi's tri's, Delt's....... works great on legs though :)

Depends on your needs.

The units you see on TV only allow limited workouts, in that they don't offer much control over the type of stimulation you want. One of the multiple channel units will allow many more options, such as doing two, four, or more muscle groups to be worked at a time. It is possible to use a reciprocating mode to enable the workout of opposing muscle groups with the same settings (i.e.. biceps Vs triceps) where one is contracted at the same time the other is relaxing. You won't get "hit" with the full strength of the contraction, but rather it will "ramp" up to the max contraction. There are many controls and options on the more advanced units that you won't find on the TV models. And, if you are experiencing a burning, not tingling, sensation, and you are using plenty of the conductive gel, your unit is probably starting to fail. This is another advantage of the more professional units, you should never experience the burning sensation. Nice thing is that with the unit I'm using, and I'm sure with many others, I have a five year warranty if there are any problems.

You can purchase a top quality unit for anywhere from $250 to $400. There may be better buys out there, I'm no professional at this. Just search around and you'll find any number. The unit I have was purchased from the Vitalityweb.com site. If you are having success with one of the TV models, then you'll be amazed at the advanced results from one of the upgraded models.

Hmm

I think the real question here is, what are the long term effects?
This seems like one of those too good to be true things.

Is it really safe for your nerves to be zapped over and over? What side effects are possible (from a scientific point of view), will your nerve endings become fatigued over long term use to the point where they are less and less responsive?

i have always wondered about these things too. i hope some more people who use them post, so i can see if they really work.

Burncycle360 you might possibly find some very useful information at the following site. I think this is one of the most complete and informative articles you'll find on EMS. http://www.testosterone.net/articles/159ems.html

Skyline referenced this site in one of his earlier posts, and I offer my thanks to him for the source. I have been researching EMS all over the web, and this is one of the most informative and thorough articles I've come across.

the_only_sepe, with his obvious grasp of the subject, just might learn something if he took the time to read the above referenced article. However, he doesn't come across as the type of individual that gets too involved in leaning and understanding new concepts and/or technologies. I'm sure he was very happy with himself and his post, but then they say "ignorance is bliss"!

Mine works great! I've grown four inches in length, two inches in girth, and can punch holes in drywall with it! Big thumbs up!

LOL

If you're looking for a massage it's fine...

You get what you pay for. If you're looking for a massage, I guess it would be ok. If on the other hand you are attempting to strengthen, and/or tone muscles, don't waste your money. Guess it depends on what you are hoping to accomplish.

As for gaining length and girth, you must be an armadillo. :)

One fat joint $3.00
Big Grab Doritos $.75
Large Slurpee..$1.05
Fast Abs muscle toner $39.95
Being a fat slob and under the impression that this all can be cured by a Chuck Norris informercial.....Priceless

Oh really?

The last time I checked Mr. Norris wasn't endorsing, nor advertising, any form of electronic muscle stimulation. Bruce Lee on the other hand was a proponent. If you have a few moments you just might want to check some info on EMS at :

1. http://www.testosterone.net/articles/159ems.html

or

2. http://www.biostimtherapy.com/newsletters/index.html
(The most recent newsletter in pdf format.)

Don't pass judgement till you have a few of the facts. It might not be right for you, but it has helped a lot of people.

Burncycle360

I forwarded your question to two different sites in an attempt to come up with a more scientific response. I have found no indications whatsoever of any damage to, or desensitization of, nerves, but at the same time I difinitely don't have the credentials to answer you questions adequately. When I recieve an answer(s) I will be happy to forward them for you via this forum.
