hey does anyone have any info on these things. it's the little pads you put on abs or chest then you can turn up the volts going to it. what are they called and has anyone had any luck or info on them. figured might try one for when sitting around the house or something.

Its been proven that this does not work for muscle hypertrophy (new muscle growth). In other words, it doesn't work.

Dont waste your money. No offense, but these things are for people who think they can go the easy route to losing abdominal fat and get a sixpack. There is no easy route, besides surgery, for losing fat and building muscle.

technically, since they help prevent muscle loss in coma patients, wouldn't it be ideal for those in shape to skip work outs and just put them on? or perhaps i'm mistaken...

i'm not looking for the easy way out.i love my cardio and traiing abs. just thought i'd look into it for when at night i'm sitting around to put them on abs or chest or somethinhg late night before bed. thanks

ya no offense but it is really amazing what people buy into. think about...how can electric pulses possibly sculpt your abs?

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation...TENS. They are used for pain management (using what's called opiate release or gate control theory...it tricks your pain sensors into either releasing endorphins or to feel tingling instead of pain, depending on the settings). They can be set high enough to ellicit a muscle contraction but nothing that's gonna give you a six pack. NMES (neuromuscular electrical stimulation) is a simillar unit that works to re-educate muscle to fire at appropriate times (Like VMO during quad contraction) during a rehab or as someone mentioned, in coma patients, but again, there will not be growth with the machine passively attached to your muscles. Rehab patients must exercise while the machine is attached....coma patients avoid atrophy with it (but a physio or nurse is passively moving whatever limb is being stimulated at the same time)

Save your money dude and hit the GYM!!!!

I remember reading a study of that thing, and they determined in order to stimilate muscle growth, the amount of electricity needed would be enough to kill you.

A wonder people actually thought these things would work in the 1st place...

Of course it works great and will give you a 6-pack in just a week
Look at the guy on TV. He's huge
;)

Yeah, of course it's a scam
Unless, as previously said, it's part of a rehab/coma/anticatabolic program

i bought one off ebay for about $10 and all it did was give me electric shocks
